How different will Farhan Akhtar's Don be from the 1978 movie starring Amitabh Bachchan in double role?
Shah Rukh Khan has candidly said that Don (1978) is one of his most favourite films of Amitabh from the 70s. Farhan Akhtar has long harboured the dream of remaking the film, and the dream is now being realized in the movie starring Shah Rukh, Priyanka Chopra , Arjun Rampal , Kareena Kapoor and Isha Koppikar .

However, Farhan's film will not be a scene-to-scene adaptation of the original flick by director Chandra Barot. The remake will be a modern, contemporary version in which SRK, as the Don, uses all the state-of-the-art gadgets and technology.
Farhan's movie stays loyal to the story of the original. But it improvises on the treatment of the story through stylish cinematography, crisp editing and innovative direction.
The film will show SRK making style statements through a ponytail, some unusual dressing sense, and some daredevil stunts.
In one such action scene in the film, SRK will be shown jumping from a height of 15,000 feet. The stunt was executed under the guidance of Hollywood stunt expert Joe Jennings. SRK himself did the stunt.
The film, like the original, has SRK in a double role. One is a don who is killed and another is a don look-alike rustic guy who is clandestinely sent on a mission by a cop to impersonate as the don.
Another similarity that the film has is the inclusion of the famous song Khaike Paan Banaras Wala in which SRK has also sung a few lines. Farhan's movie will also have the title song Main Hoon Don. However, this song won't be a rehash of Arrey Deewano Mujhe Pehchano, but will be a complete original composition by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
In an interview earlier, SRK said that he is not trying to match to Amitabh Bachchan in the film's remake. SRK said he has interpreted the character of the clever and cunning don in his own way.
'Don' is set to release around Diwali-Eid time.
