Priyanka goes Plain Jane
The actress sheds the glamourous tag for her next
Kunal M Shah
Dharmesh Darshan presents his heroines in a glamorous avatar. However, your role in Aap Ki Khatir is that of the girl next door…
So what if my role is non-glamourous in the film, my character is very real. I play this girl who is worldly wise from the outside but still confused about many things and has a complex. Actually, I am quite similar to the character I play in terms as I too seek the approval of the world for everything I do.
Your co-star in the film, Akshaye Khanna comes across as a reserved person. How was the experience of working with him?
Akshaye may come across as moody but it was sheer pleasure to work with him. He is one of the finest actors in the industry today and I would rate him among the best in the present generation of stars.
This year belongs to you…
Krrish has done extremely well and is a blockbuster. I now have Aap Ki Khatir and Don due for release and I'm just hoping that the good luck continues.
You have been a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan. How was it to finally work with him in Don?
I was a fantastic privilege! (smiles) To share screen space with someone you have admired so much is an unbelievable feeling. I thought that my bubble of awe would burst once we worked together but it has grown bigger and so has my respect for him. I was just too thrilled.
It is rumored that you have hiked your fee after Krrish?
I will never answer that question! That's strictly between me and my producers.
In a poll conducted by Ebay.com you were voted as a fashion icon…
I am very flattered as I don't consider myself as very stylish. It feels great that so many people have voted for me. In fact I am in the process of starting a bid on the same website for a charity organisation for the education of girl children, a cause I strongly believe in.
When are you making a singing debut?
I never plan anything. Things that are meant to be surely happen. The nazam I sang in Barsaat just happened and if I am meant to sing some more it will surely happen.
Do you regret not completing your graduation?
Yes, it's is probably the only regret that God has given me. I believe it's destiny that pushed me into the glamour world. But I love being what I am today.
