After his short stint with the television series Saturday Suspense, director Vikram Bhatt might have moved on to become a filmmaker.
However, a strong urge to whip up television soap operas refuses to leave him. Presently in the middle of filming his next project Red, Vikram voices, "I'm ready to make a mini television series."
No saas-bahu saga
Ask him about his soap idea and he says, "I must admit the fact that I don't understand the structure of daily soaps today. My understanding of cinema will always ensure a film-oriented treatment."
Dissatisfied with the present state of TV shows, Bhatt wants to bring back the trend of weekly shows. "I'm not too keen on making daily shows revolving around saas-bahus. It's fun to make a mini series."
West Wing theory
His penchant for the mini series prompted him to take up Zee's weekend thriller Saturday Suspense. "I was on a break as Ghulam had released. Deepak Tijori was producing the show, approached me and I took it."
As for pet soap operas, Bhatt prefers going DVD shopping during the weekends. "I watch The West Wing and Sex and the City on DVD." He remains tight-lipped about scripts. "I have to meet with film commitments before I plunge into making a TV soap. I would want to make something like The Sopranos and The West Wing." War cry!
| Inder Kumar shows off the bod, while Zayed and Ashish Choudhury look on | Celeb hairstylist Perri Patel is no longer with Akshay Kumar's sister Alka at Aroma Salon, neither will he be available at Makeover in Bandra. He has opened a new salon called Perri's Salon in Juhu.
To mark its launch, he hosted a party on Sunday night, which was attended by Zayed Khan, Malaika Arora Khan, Nausheen Ali Sardar, Eijaz Khan, Karishma Tanna, among others. These celebrities, who are his regular clients, walked the ramp to mark Perri's style statement.
| Nausheen, Perry Patel and Karishma | We caught actor Inder Kumar all dressed up (or dressed down?) as a cross between Attila the Hun and Tarzan, badly in need of a haircut. And yes, he could do with a lot less of the greasepaint too.
But the poor himbo probably thought he was putting on war paint, so we might think of forgiving him.
But we wonder why Patel had to have all his models dress up in drag. Really, if you keep that up it's going to tell on your clientele, hun. | Iski topi uske sar | | Shilpa Saklani and hubby Apoorva Agnihotri burn up the dance floor | | Rarely has one seen Shilpa Saklani (Ganga of Kyunki Saas…) and hubby Apoorva Agnihotri (Armaan of Jassi Jaissi…) letting their hair down like they did at best buddy Bhavna Pani's late night birthday bash.
Wearing a cowboy hat, Shilpa literally lassoed Apoorva onto the dance floor. Later, he even donned her hat and was seen swinging minus the inhibitions.
Says budding actress Bhavna, "Shilpa and I became close after we starred in a movie called Tere Liye some seven years ago. We have always stood by each other since."
Hmmm. We haven't heard of a seven year itch with it comes to friendship, girls. So we can safely say that this is one friendship that's definitely stood the test of time! | Beckham inspired SRK?
| David Beckham's tattoo inspires Shah Rukh's inscription in KANK | Has Shah Rukh Khan turned to football star David Beckham for inspiration in KANK? If you've watched the film, then it's hard to miss the 'Victory' tattoo inked on SRK's arm.
Interestingly, Beckham also sports a similar tattoo with his wife 'Victoria' tattooed in Hindi on his forearm. Although SRK did pass off as a dynamic soccer player, we wondered why he was wearing a vest inside his t-shirt in the film?
Mr Khan, if you want to bend it like Beckham, then you need to follow the dress code. And not just get a fake tattoo. Ramu backs Ajay
Ram Gopal Varma ko gussa kyon aata hai? Yesterday, a tabloid reported that Ajay Devgan (who plays Veeru in Ramu's Sholay) is delaying the project, as he wants some changes in the script.
Says an infuriated Ramu, "The news is completely baseless. The truth of the matter is that Ajay is so excited about the script that he can't wait to start shooting. It's me who's taking time, as I want to be better prepared. Ajay wanted to start in August, as he's very charged about his look and styling. But since it's a big project, I want to make sure I have everything in place."
So has Sholay been delayed? "No. I want to state once and for all, that my version of Sholay will start on schedule (September) and finish shooting by January and release in May next year."
You heard the man, you rumour mongers! Hair-raising tale
After his alleged off-screen romance with Kasamh Se's Jai Walia (Ram Kapoor), Naman Shaw (who plays Pushkar) seems to be causing a lot of distress to his on-screen wife Pia (Roshni Chopra). According to buzz on the sets, Naman has actually resorted to pulling Roshni's hair!
No, they aren't fighting over which sex he fancies more. Actually, a scene from the show required them to have a heated exchange of words. Reveals our source, "Naman had to pull Roshni's hair for one scene, but he kept doing it just to cause her trauma. So much so that she had to take a pain killer to get rid of the headache that it caused!"
Let's hope Naman's screen lady doesn't say, "tum hi ne dard diya hai, tum hi dava dena." When the camera did not roll!
Svetta Keswani was supposed to make Ananya (Kanchi Kaul) and Nikhil's (Shakti Anand) wedding ceremony an event to remember with a special dance number.
But she made it extra special when she danced twice! Apparently, the camera wasn't rolling when Svetta performed the first time, and they only realised that after she finished dancing to the Omkara track Bidi jalai le.
But the sporting Keswani did the jhatkas all over again, leaving the wedding guests clapping and cheering for more. Shiney drives downtown When Shiney Ahuja is not poring over a script, he's most likely to zip off for a drive. We are the romantic sorts so we'd like to believe that during those moments of pleasure, Ahuja craves his wife's company.
But when she is away in New York, the light-eyed actor has to settle for any company he gets.
We recently spotted Ahuja speeding around Juhu with a very pretty co-passenger. But when we sniffed for details, it turned out that wife Anu was in town and in his car. But he wasn't wearing a seat belt. So we're glad to report that that was the only law he was breaking! RAZA'S BOLLYWOOD
