Priyanka Chopra says her Ram Leela item song is modernmujra

    Sunday, Oct 20, 2013, 12:55 IST | Place: Mumbai | Agency: IANS

Aishwarya Rai was reportedly approached for the item song before Priyanka.

    Priyanka Chopra.

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who has done an item song in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Leela, describes it as a modern mujra which has Indian vibes with a western touch.

"The song is very different and special because I am a huge fan of Bhansali. It's a modern mujra which you all have not seen for a long time. It's a mujra, but modern. It's got Indian music and vibes, but still western and contemporary.

"It has got a different look, different form of dancing and I didn't have time to rehearse. I used to rehearse at night," Priyanka told reporters here.

Aishwarya Rai was reportedly approached for the item song before Priyanka.

Ram Leela features Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead.

Ranveer Singh says I get a little better everyday!'

Comments
Posted on October 20th, 2013 in News, People, Stars

Ranveer Singh is slowly but surely recovering from his severe case of Dengue fever. Though it is a slow recovery and the actor is impatient to get back to work, he is on the mend.

We caught up with the actor to talk all things Ram-leela, and of course first had to ask him how he was doing.

"I get a little bit better every day. I am not completely up to speed yet but I will get there in another couple of weeks time. I hope so," he said.

Apparently this was a very bad case. "It was a severe case but the doctor told me I was able to make a right quick recovery, an alarmingly quick recovery because of my fitness levels going into the illness. But yeah, man it was bad. I was in hospital for a week and there was a good 24 hour period in there where it was really scary. Never felt like that in my life. But I guess what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

Ranveer is ready, waiting and impatient to get back to work, "It is no fun dealing with a serious health issue once a year, because last year with my back and this year it is Dengue. What pissed me off the most is that it is a loss of time, you know? I want to achieve so many things. . I always feel like my time is running out and then to be wasting time on health issues is no fun. I get very very impatient when things like this happens. It is a set back in terms of time. You know, you lose all that time in the hospital and then in the recovery period. I want to accomplish a lot. Just hoping it doesn't happen again and I am able to do more and more films."

He also talked to us extensively about Ram-leela and here's a sneak peek, "Bhansali has really given me wings to fly with this role."

Stay tuned for much much more, but you have to wait until closer to the November 15th release date to get the full fabulous interview!

We wish him a speedy recovery!

We have a few names for this kind of behavior where I'm from: Thuggery, Vandalism, and Bullying

http://www.indianexpress.com/news/kshatriyas--vandalise--mall-protest-against-ramleela/1185189/

Members of Kshatriya community allegedly vandalised a shopping mall, where posters of yet-to-be-released movie Ram-Leela were pasted, and later burnt an effigy of film's director Sanjay Leela Bhansali during a protest against the movie in the city on Sunday.

The incident took place during a rally of Kshatriya to protest alleged derogatory portrayal of the community in the movie. While passing on Kalavad Road, participants of the rally allegedly broke glasses of the entrance of the mall. They also damaged plants in the landscape near the entry gate.

Afterwards, they gathered in Jilla Panchayat Chowk, garlanded an effigy of Bhansali with footwear and set it on fire.

Incidentally, protests against the movie had started in Saurashtra early this month, but had subsided after Bhansali reportedly "apologised" to Kutch Kathiawad Association, an organisation of Kshatriyas, to remove "objectionable" scenes of the movie.

"But now we have learnt that Bhansali never tendered an apology and that the fax was sent by his assistant. Even then, he has apologised to an organisation only. We demand Bhansali seek apology of the entire Kshatriya community through the media," said Pravinsinh Jadeja, president of Gujarat Kshatriya-Rajput Yuva Samaj, another Kshatriya organisation.

"The movie portrays a Kshatriya woman in a manner against which the community takes offence. By conjuring up a story between Rabari and Kshatriya communities, Bhansali may lead both the communities to clash," Jadeja further said.

He added that Kshatriyas would not allow the movie to be released next month if Bhansali did not seek an apology and removed "controversial" content. The movie is set to be released next month.

Meanwhile, the management of the mall refused to file a police complaint for Sunday's incident. In a written submission, it conveyed to Gandhigram police that it was doing business with the Kshatriya community directly or indirectly and thus, would not like to file a complaint.

Gulshan Devaiah Nearly Turned Down Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ram-Leela

by Alisha Coelho , IndiaTimes | October 21, 2013, 6:00 am IST

Gulshan Devaiah

Actor Gulshan Devaiah might be a bundle of nerves now that the release of 'Ram-Leela' is just around the corner, but he might have not been part of the ambitious Sanjay Leela Bhansali project had he gone with his initial gut instinct!

The actor, last seen in films like 'Hate Story' and 'Shaitan', admits that when the role first came to him, he considered turning it down.

'When I met Mr Bhansali for the first time, I was very, very nervous. It was certainly a little intimidating to be part of such a large project. When the script and my role was presented to me, I almost turned it down because I was so overwhelmed," said Devaiah.

Fortunately for the actor, better judgement prevailed after his wife drilled some sense into him. "My wife sat me down and reasoned with me about how important this role could prove for my career. I'm really glad I listened to her," he said.

Devaiah plays Bhavani, the chief antagonist in 'Ram-Leela', but insists that his role is not all black, but more gray.

"I'm not the Raavan of this Ram-Leela. You could say I'm more of its Duryodhana. The villain in Bhavani (the character Gulshan plays) is not immediately evident. He's driven by ambition and his judgement is clouded by jealousy. His need for power and his ego leads him to make decisions that alter the course of the film," he says.

To get into the skin of the character, Gulshan insisted on getting ready for his shots by himself. "I asked the film's designer and her stylists to let me to dress up alone since that helped me get into the mood and the psyche of Bhavani. Also, it's not like I need help with a lungi."

Devaiah, who made in his debut in 2010 with Anurag Kashyap's 'That Girl in Yellow Boots', will be seen in a lead role for the first time in Pooja Bhatt's upcoming project 'Cabaret'. "It's a misconception that character actors can't be the leading man. I want to disprove that," he says.

I am shocked and in disbelief, even when SLB has said he will remove the names to fictional ones they are still protesting. They want him to go to the media and humiliate himself and give an apology when he has done nothing wrong. Wow, I don't know what they have against him, I really don't know. I hope SLB does not give in now, they are totally taking advantage of this movie, SLB has now done everything he can to make sure the movie does not upset the Gujarat community and they are still being complete uneducated cheap disgusting people.

They are protesting because they want SLB himself to apologize to the whole community, as he as only apologized to a organization? What the hell is wrong with these people! And also because the letter was sent by his assistant not personally by SLB, I cannot believe how stupid these people are. The letter was written by his assistant but was from SLB, and he was talking to the whole gujrat community through that letter, that he doesn't want to hurt thier sentiments as he is a Gujarati himself. These people really have nothing better to do but act like the thugs they are. Now I understand why many promotions are not happening, it's dangerous for them to start promoting.
