They are both stars in their own right — while Aamir Khan has established himself as one of the biggest names in the industry, Ranbir Kapoor may well be on his way to superstardom. It's fascinating then to know about the "bonding" between Aamir and Ranbir, the news of which a source close to the actors lets us in on.
Our insider says that, for the past month or so, the two actors have been "quietly connecting", and it's all been away from the media glare. A few days ago, Ranbir even took Aamir and his wife Kiran Rao out for dinner in Bandra, the suburb both actors live in. "Ranbir took them to a high-end Chinese restaurant. The day before, he had missed out on a special screening of Ship of Theseus (SoT, backed by Kiran) that Aamir and Kiran hosted specially for the cast and crew of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani," the insider says.
However, Ranbir's gesture didn't come out of the blue. "Aamir and Ranbir bonded at the bash Deepika (Padukone) hosted at her Prabhadevi residence. They hit it off and chatted till wee hours of the morning," adds the insider.
Three days back, there was another special screening of SoT. This time, Ranbir not only attended, but apparently chatted with Aamir all night, till early morning the next day. "Kiran was present throughout, but Aamir and Ranbir's bonding was exemplary. They both have strong opinions on cinema; that's the common ground," adds the insider.
Sources insist, however, that this bonding is without an agenda. "They don't talk shop. They discuss all kind of cinema — global as well as Indian," says the insider.
Did you Know?: Ranbir Kapoor had apparently been offered Delhi Belly(2011: produced by Aamir Khan) along with Imran Khan. The Kapoor scion, of course, didn't take up the role. The film then went ahead with Imran as the solo lead.
