Introducing Yudhisthir Sikarwar: Strongwilled and resolute, that's the character Amitabh Bachchan plays in his TV fiction debut, a 20-episode series directed by Anurag Kashyap.
Shooting for the untitled show, which began in Andheri on Monday, has been kept hushhush, but we have exclusive details about the show. As Yudhisthir, Amitabh is a construction magnate and the storyline focuses on the politics of the corporate world. As of now, mostly indoor shoots of offices have been canned. One schedule will also be shot in Lonavla. Most of the other characters in the serial are fresh faces. Ayesha Raza Mishra, who is active in the Mumbai theatre circuit, will play Big B's wife. Sources said the casting director had called her for another role after seeing her play, but after her audition, gave her the coveted part. Ayesha and Bachchan will play parents to a 20-year-old boy, to be played by Pavail Gulati, who's done bit roles in Bollywood so far. Mona Wasu, who was seen as Miilee in the eponymous serial, is playing the role of Big B's secretary.
Actor Zakir Hussain will play the pivotal character of Anand Upadhyay, Yudhisthir's right hand in his construction company. "All my scenes are with Amitji, so it's fun shooting with him. I have worked with him earlier in Sarkar and am very comfortable in his presence," confirmed Zakir, while refusing to divulge anything else. The 20-episode series will not be a daily and should be launched around the end of the year.
