He is right...the movie was more like old 60s and 70s movies with picnics et al rather than DDLJ as per Anupama Chopra.

The movie isn't that superficial!!! Ranbir realises that life can be enjoyed with simplicity!!! and Deepika straight off tells him that a hippie life is not for her! But she doesn't force him to give up on his dreams! Instead tells him to not get in to a relationship with her!

haha he has the ability to make any movie in to a joke.

Then YHJD is not a classic. It's a feel good film with good performances and direction which is rare among commercial movies these days.

so with all drawbacks, it's still a good movie.
