A restaurant launches a new menu and an array of stars and page 3 regulars drop by to gorge on what the menu has to offer.

Kabir Bedi

Vindoo Dara Singh with wife Dana

The usual suspects were seen at the do — Pooja Bedi with daddy dearest, Kabir, puffing away on a cigar, Vindoo Dara Singh shared a quick smooch with phoren biwi Dana, even as Nina Manuel and an assortment of other models strutted around.
Ties that bind

Varun Badola
Raksha Bandhan is just around the corner, and brothers are going into a tizzy trying to find the perfect presents for their sisters.

And one such brother is Varun Badola, who was recently at the Tommy Hilfiger showroom looking for watches for his sisters.

The actor, who has two sisters, was in for a real surprise when he realised that the brand was having an end-of-season sale. So he ended up buying one watch and got the other one free for his sisters. Now that's what we call killing two birds with one stone!

Rain dance gone wrong

Zayed Khan and Isha Sharvani
While shooting for a rain sequence in Rocky with Zayed Khan, danseuse Isha Sharvani had an overdose of reality.

She says, "It was my first rain scene and it was supposed to be this romantic thing with rain falling softly on my face.

But boy, was I in for a rude shock when we actually shot for the scene! It was freezing and the water was not natural but tanker water. We were soaked for eight hours and constantly had to cover ourselves with a blanket of towels.

There were two blow dryers trying to dry our hair and keep us warm as we couldn't possibly give the shot with quivering lips. Gosh, I really got a strong dose of the reality of filmmaking!"

It's time to drop the blinkers Isha, dear. Whoever told you that making films was all gloss and glitter?

Sunny's Pak connection

Sunny Deol
Pakistani director Ammtoje Mann's film Kaafila goes in for a complete deviation with its lead actor as Sunny Deol.

In several films like Gadar, Border and Maa Tujhe Salaam, Sunny has played a gun-toting, anti-Pakistan vigilante. And this has ensured that several people in Pakistan and relatively open-minded countries like the US and UK have stopped watching his films.

Maybe this has something to do with him signing a Pakistani film? But wait, the Pakistani connection doesn't end there.

Sunny's two female leads in the film are played by Sana Nawaz and Mona Lisa, both of whom are well-known TV actresses from the other side of the border. Now that his career is far from being on the upside, it seems desperate times call for desperate measures, eh Sunny?

Sharon's baby steals the show

Akashdeep Saigal Sharon Prabhakar and daughter Shazahn
Akashdeep 'Ansh' Saigal went unrecognised at a party hosted at Kabbana by music-video director Shenazz recently (Saigal plays a model wooing singer Sharon Prabhakar in a music video for her new album Dilruba).

Not surprising, since he's been sporting a newly cropped look. Although there have been mixed reactions to his 'sober appearance', Akash is confident that gradually viewers will "get over my nasty Ansh hangover".

Meanwhile, the scene-stealer at the party was Sharon's daughter Shazahn.

She's into event management and plans to go the US for a course in filmmaking. "Strangely, my dad (ad guru Alyque Padamsee ) is not too keen that I pursue modelling, but I've been getting quite a few offers for commercials," says Shazahn.

Pehchan kaun?

Smriti Iraani
Smriti Iraani may be wearing sarees and tying her hair in a bun with grey streaks to play an old woman in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

However, there was a time when the actress not only wore killer outfits but also gave the other girls a run for their money.

We dug up our archives to get an old picture of Smriti when she was taking part in a beauty contest.

After watching the promos of her new show Thodi si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasman we can easily say that we love Smriti in a younger avatar than watching her play grumpy old Tulsi.

Filmi chakkar

Sanjit Bedi
Sanjit Bedi has his hands full with several TV shows. Last time we counted, he was part of four shows.

However, there's one passion that Sanjit always makes time for, and that is watching films. The actor carries a portable DVD player whenever possible, and tries to watch his favourite films in between shots.

One film he's looking forward to catching is Omkara. "I haven't got the time to watch it yet, but that's one film that's definitely on my 'must-watch' list."
