Bips: Retro parade We all know Bips now flaunts a short, chic haircut. However, it looks like she's discarded her discerning dressing style along with her chopped tresses. Of late, we've spotted her in creations that don't really do wonders for her svelte bod. We've always preferred Bips in her jeans-and-ganji look (and that straight long hair). We understand you need a change from time to time, but the next time round, try something that sure to spark off a trend, not make people wonder what decade you pulled out your dress from. Retro fashion doesn't look good on you, girl. We can't help but hope the old Bipasha makes a return. Ironical, ain't it?

No, according to Saif Ali Khan he wasn't the fairest of them all — at least not during the shooting of Omkara. This was one good-looking actor who refused to even look at the mirror during the shooting of the film."
Much has been said about the chote nawab's crew cut and yellow teeth. But what did it feel like for the star every time he looked at the mirror? "I didn't look at the mirror throughout the film. I didn't have hair to fiddle around with, which normally one has to look in the mirror for, and that was a truly liberating feeling!" Saif grins.
Anything for a role, but not anything for an award, as Saif says. "I am consciously trying to attempt different films each time but not for awards. I take up different roles because I enjoy doing them."
Viveik raises the bar DRAWING PARALLELS: Viveik Oberoi
Apart from social service leanings, Aamir Khan and Viveik Oberoi hardly share any similarities. Nevertheless, Oberoi says his dream come true when he met Aamir at the BAFTA Bollywood Weekend in London, recently.
Like an enthused teenager, Oberoi congratulated Khan. But even before Viveik could take acting tips from him, Aamir apparently rushed into the auditorium. But Oberoi has nothing to complain about.
"I felt Aamir didn't deserve the allegations that he was taking the Gujarat stand for selfish motives. I have faced it, too, when my attempts were subjected to scrutiny," he says.
Err, so you're comparing yourself to Aamir these days, Viveik darling?
Masala on stage FLOORBOARDS BOUND: Neetu Chandra
The chirpy Neetu Chandra played an airhostess in Garam Masala, and will next be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's Traffic Signal, where she plays a raunchy street-side bangle vendor.
But before that, Chandra will make her theatrical debut this week. She will be part of a string of IDEAS plays directed by Mujeeb Khan to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand.
"It's my privilege that I was singled out to act in four of Premchand's plays. I play a wide range of characters — from a youngster to a mother-in-law. The theatre experience will help in honing my acting skills," she says. The actress was recently dragged into a controversy over objections to her spiritual song in the indie film Strings.
"The objections were for the usage of certain words in the lyrics, not for body language. I performed a decent tandav nritya to a poem written by Nagarajun, as I am a trained classical dancer," explains Chandra.
'Write' on! SHORT TAKE:
Faruque Kabir
Singer-actress Sanober Kabir's brother, Faruque Kabir, has written and directed the short film, Awakening, which stars and has been produced by Ajay Devgan. The film is based on last year's 26/7 tragedy.
"It is based on the experience of a little girl who suffered in the deluge last year. The film airs prior to the screening of Omkara in all theatres across the country. It is also being sent to film festivals wherever Omkara is being screened," says Faruque.
According to Kabir, Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan simple loved the film. Faruque has worked as an assistant director to Aziz Mirza, Santosh Sivan and Rajiv Rai, and has also done a filmmaking course at the New York Film Academy.
When Veer beat the rains BARSAAT KI RAAT:
Kanchi Kaul and Mohnish Behl
Nikhil (Shakti Anand) and Ananya (Kanchi Kaul) are all set to tie the knot in the Sony daily Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. In the midst of all the wedding preparations, the promo shoot scheduled for Friday fell into a tizzy.
Due to a miscommunication, Veer (Mohnish Behl) was not informed about the shoot and happened to be out of Mumbai. Due to the rains getting through to Behl, who was in the outskirts of the city, was an ordeal and there were several anxious moments.
However, when Behl was contacted, he rushed back in lashing rains and shot the whole night for the promo.
What's Mannish doing at Anuj's bash? We all know that once-upon-a-time good friends, Anuj Saxena and Mannish Goyal, are not exactly seeing eye-to-eye. So we were surprised to see Manish at Anuj's birthday bash on Sunday night. And Mannish seemed to be enjoying himself — considering he rocked the dance floor So can we assume that it is patch-up time between the two telly actors? Also spotted at the bash were Cezanne Khan, Juhi Parmar, Nausheen Sardar Ali, Vikas Kalantri, Narayani Shastri, Gaurav Chopraa, Manasi Joshi Roy, Shakti Anand, Bakul Thakkar and Maushmi Udeshi among others. The centre of attention, however, was a puppy which Anuj received as a gift from his Maverick Production team. | ||
