Review-Ek Thi Dayan starts with magic show to establish Emran Hashmi as a magician like Amitabh Bacchan ji was in film Jaadugar. Then suddenly stupid things starts like every building has a Hell n lift directly take people there or a 10 years old boy stars chasing a Dayan and Dayan ka jeena haram kar detaa hai and then Emran NDTV wale show ki tarah apne Bachpan main chalaa jaata hai and finally all Dayans get killed by Emran which was understood. Casting is perfect as Kaali Peeli Konkana is African Dayan, Huma Kureshi is Mumbai ki khaate peete ghar ki Dayan and Kalki is Canadian Dayan. The story is as good as of any horror film like Dayans human biengs ko one by one chun chunkar maarti hain. There is only one ghatiya song Yaaram in the film which is composed by Vishal bhardwaj who is one of the producer of the film. No actor has done good acting. Background music just average. camera work is just average. Story is very very weak. Director at his worst. So film is belove average.

Important- You will laugh on each n every scene instead getting scared.
Rating- 1.5 satr.
Business- May be it will do business of around 30Cr lifetime.

Very few films this year have taken a bumper opening at the box office. Abbas Mustan's Race 2 started well, but the response wasn't extra ordinary for a holiday release. Only two medium budget films – Prabhu Deva's Anybody Can Dance and David Dhawan's Chashme Baddoor – got a better response than what was expected out of them.

To add to the woes, a big-budget film like Himmatwala sank without a trace after a decent initial, collecting just 45 crores in it's entire run.

However, the next few months have quite a few keenly-awaited films lined up for release, starting with Emraan Hashmi's super natural thriller Ek Thi Daayan.

There are murmurs within the industry that Ekta hasn't gone all out to promote the film because of creative differences with co-producer Vishal Bhardwaj. When Ekta watched the film, she wasn't too impressed with certain portions and asked the crew to re-shoot a few scenes.

But given the film's genre (horror) and Hashmi's fan-following at B and C centres, Ek Thi Daayan should open well on Friday. The opening day collections should be around 7-8 crores net. The weekend numbers would then depend on content and word-of-mouth.

Note: Ek Thi Daayan won't be screened at single screens in Mumbai due to the ongoing dispute with UTV Motion Pictures who booked screens for Chennai Express with Himmatwala.
