That pagdi is more of the punjabi choudhry type... u know the big zameendar type...

As a kid I attended countless weddings where the groom wore something like this in white ... mostly on baraat though...
Have u seen the pk Rangers headdress at wagha? Pretty much the same thing. ... guess a trendier version of of it is back...

Maybe pre partition it was a muslim punjabi thing :s.. most probably with rich landlords
