wht do u guys prefer?

something down to earth and realistic or something escapist or fantasy-ish...

so realistic would be in the veins of EV, satya, WUS, Paa perhaps...basically films tht are like slice of life ish...and it feels like its happening in ur life or films tht are actual accounts of real life incidents...

Fantastical : fantasy themed...larger than life concepts...punar janam, special effects, superhero stuff, science fiction stuff set in a mythical land...examples include Mr India, OSO, robot, perhaps even sholay.. etc etc...

i know films need to be entertaining and both genres can be good...

but if u had a GOOD realistic film and a GOOD fantasy film to chose from...which one would u chose...?

For Bollywood I prefer realistic ones.Bollywood is terrible in terms of fantasy movies.Hollywood I prefer the fantasy ones. The realistic Hollywood movies make me fall asleep.

Slice of life films, like Khosla ka Ghosla or Vicky donor are absolute favorites. I enjoy a good realistic thriller as well, like a Satya or an Ab tak Chappan or a Priyadarshan comedy, which stays in the parameters of believable for the most part instead of foolish slapstick that Rohit Shetty and Sajid Khan excel in.

Can't stand larger than life films for the most part.

I like watching all films

But the stuff that interests me the most is the things I can't do in real life .

That is why I watch movies , tv , soaps , cartoons , sports to see people do stuff that doesn't happen to me

If I spend my timeand money to watch something that happened to me then I wasted of right ? 😉

That being said if I like a promo I will watch realistic as well as escapism

Realistic or slice of life. Thoroughly enjoyed Wake Up Sid, Vicky Donor, Shootout at Lokhandwala etc type of films that are based on real life events or somewhat related. I can connect to them better than I can connect to something like Dabangg or Ra.one where cars, trees, people everything flying but that's just me.

personally...i tend to like fantasy based films better coz i love spectacles...my idea of cinema is sitting in tht dark theatre, crunching on popcorn and having my mind blown away by the awsomeness tht unfolds onscreen...

though not from bollywood, examples of tht include, TDK, TDKR, avatar, avengers etc etc...

in bollywood however, this genre has constantly been misused like in love story 2050 or ra.one...but id still say...something like a Mr india, or a robot... (or eega and magadheera down the south) are some occasional movies which if found extremely entertaining in the escapist/fantasy genre...

those r the kind of movies i prefer watching in the cinema theatre...whereas i reserve the realistic ones for a sunday afternoon dvd/tv watch...

A little bit of both--a movie like Mr. India had both elements-science fiction but realistic elements (the little girl dying, Arun being optimistic despite being orphan and in debt, Seema being a rude woman to a caring one, cold-hearted villain). Also loved Sridevi's Nagina even though I find snakes very creepy.

But yeah it has to be believable--science fiction and mythological/folklore things work but not crazy defying stunts (gravity will pull you down)

what ever it is- it has to have tight execution for me to believe it!

i don't mind any genre as long as its convincing!

talaash for instance is the biggest example where it made me believe the entire super natural concept

i personally love rom-coms or close to reality stuff like WAK as long as reality the term is not misused ot misinterpreted with urban wannabes cough EMAET cough!
