Q. In the Oscar-winning Life of Pi, Pi's survival kit had both reason and faith. What does yours have?

You can discern when faith is needed and when reason. As we grow, we reason more. We understand what to let go and what to pursue. Reason puts a roadblock, faith tells you to flow. You should know when to stop questioning and when to take action. But I'm still learning. Sometimes I ask myself whether I do have a survival kit. Outwardly, I've achieved what I wanted to and even what I didn't want to. But within myself I still have to understand what I want – peace, happiness… whatever. To make my place in the world, to be useful and justify my existence, that's my quest.

Q. Would you like to undo anything about your life?

Nothing actually. Though I'd like to wipe out or erase some people from the data of my mind. But then I look at the good things they may have given me. I'm grateful for all that happened and all that didn't happen. I'm fortunate that I survived. The universe protected me. The love and affection I've have received, the response my work has gained is gratifying.

Q. You're dubbed as the sexiest singleton in B-town. Haven't you given marriage a thought?

I give a lot of significance to marriage. Men and women were made to coexist. Marriage would be the best thing to experience if you find someone you can connect with, discover a sense of completion and intimacy with and believe you can share your entire life with. You might have a conflict with the thought, you might be in a bad marriage/relationship but the truth is that everyone is seeking such a bond.

Q. Does the desire of being a mother sometimes override the need to get married?

If I say no to motherhood, it would be a stupid thing. But fortunately or unfortunately we're part of a system and I don't wish to fight it and have a baby. Yes, sometimes the desire for motherhood supersedes the desire to get married. But the sensible and rational part in me silences that. I've nothing against having a child out of wedlock; I don't see any wrong in it. No one can stop me if I wish to have a child of wedlock. But I don't wish to deprive the child of both the parents deliberately, from the word go.

Q. But again it's not only about being a mother. I'm looking for the complete experience. I'm looking for a loving man in my life. If after that the child has to

Follow, it will. If it doesn't it's okay. There are many women who chose not to have children. It's not a do or die situation. Life ends only when you do, not otherwise.

Q. What's the best thing a man has told you?

Ang Lee, who's shy and hardly says anything, told me, 'you giggle like a school girl'. That was sweet. Someone else told me that just because you're good, you think everyone else is also good.

Q. What kind of a man would be a put-off?

A man who cannot respect a woman, a man's who's small-minded, small-hearted and petty. After you've experienced the world and life in a massive way, you can't bear triviality.

Q. So, what would a man signify for you?

Comfort, a home, a sense of belonging and togetherness and a relationship to come back to.

This is such a misleading headline. Typical sensationalist journalism that lacks integrity. She actually gives a well spoken interview. She articulates on the importance of marriage and a woman's need for motherhood. She emphasizes why she chooses not to have a child because she wants the child to experience both parents. But the journalist chooses to pull one statement out of context from an overall wise discussion on marriage and kids.

Not that I'm against single moms. I actually think the necessity of two parents can get a bit overemphasized in society.
