...but this, I cannot argue against because in my mind even I know that this accolade he's getting is actually well-deserved by him. Like it or not - SRK has a more global appeal; he always has...yes, even more than Aamir, Salman, or Amitabh. He has a hold over audiences in India, but even a stronger hold over in USA and Europe. If you were to mention just the word "Bollywood" in the west, SRK is the name people would associate with the word first (maybe Aishwariya too, but that's a different topic).

His movies not making 100 crores (or have they?...I don't know cuz personally this 100 crores crap doesn't matter to me) has not effected his appeal/status, and that itself says enough about him.

But Forbes does not make these celeb power lists on basis of just acting and box office. It's like how currently Ekta Kapoor is no longer the queen on TV but they won't rank any other producer ahead of her knowing what her worth is.

Forbes is essentially a business magazine. And biz wise SRK is ahead of others. Even at box office, he has not gone an utter flop. So a bit of lower performance than others at BO gets made up for other stuff he is into, like business ventures, global deals, property, visibility etc.

Power-wise he's made and broken careers. He almost got Pritish Nandy's production house shut down after his daughter misbehaved with Gauri. Even now when he's signed up for West Bengal's ambassadorship, he's gotten more from Mamta Bannerjee than merely doing ads for the state. Stardust had done a detailed story on how this deal will benefit him and Mamta.

And for whatever phase he's gone through now, it's a fact that after Amitabh he is the only actor who has a museum built for him (an archive of sorts). He has temples for him just like South Indian actors.

I don't understand how he became this revered that he got temple and museum made by fans for him. I do not even think he deserved such affection. But he has it.

No wonder you see articles in defense of him when he fails or suffers a crisis. He has too much clout.

He's close to all influentials from politics, sports and business. He'd become a friend of sorts with LN Mittal even in 90s itself. Just no idea how the hell he managed it...but he has power and his power is not just measured by BO or acting.

He's pretty powerful with all his connections everywhere, helluva lot of property both in India and foreign countries.

I am not his fan at all but from whatever I've read about him, he's into lot more than just movies. Maybe this is why many in media and industry still do chamchagiri around him.

Globally he keeps getting Civilian honours from different foreign governments every year. He's forged good connections abroad also. You should notice how he calls leading international journalists by their first names as if they were his langotia yaars!

All those fellowships from Yale or conferences on him in European universities aren't for nothing. He's cleverly expanded his reach everywhere.

He's not what he seems at surface level. Crazily ambitious guy!

Forbes is related to BUSINESS. I think we don't know a lot about SRK's business ventures because he smartly escapes the business questions by saying "I am not a businessman" and doesn't discuss it much. He seems to have hands in many different pies.. IPL is the most widely known one.

I think it was Gauri once who had remarked, you guys think Shahrukh talks too much and has told you just about everything about his life...but in reality, the more he's said, the less you actually know.

I am not too surprised about this truth be told. Over the years, I've seen him make Newsweek, Time magazines most influential people's list. You can't get UNESCO awards, Yale fellowship, civilian honors every year from one country or the other, just like that.
