Both talent & luck matter in bollywood. Deepika proved her haters wrong this year with her acting in cocktail. She is the rising star, no doubt in that 👍🏼 At least much much better than that heroine who only knows how to shake her body in item numbers 😆

I think DP is a good actor. She shone in her debut film itself. But later her acting sucked in the subsequent films until cocktail happened. Proves that she is very much a directors actor.

Also a major role in her professional life is the ranbir factor. When she was dating him it looked like she wasn't that interested and was ready to give up everything . But after the breakup she seems more ambitious. Good for her.

I don't think it's luck or talent as much as it is her timing. She entered bollywood right when the reigning queens Rani and Preity were starting to fade, and much before the new crew of Anushka, Asin, Jacqueline, Sonakshi entered the foray.

She also did a lot of duds, but there were some films like LAK and Housefull that kept her ahead. Sonam, who debuted with her, got stuck with films like Thank You and Abhishek Bachchan starrers that no one sees.

Cocktail did wonders for Deepika, and now she's headed for the top with her new projects...as long as she acts in them.

I don't think she's on top. It's Katrina Kaif who's this BO queen. It's not talent in her case. It's just looks. With her body she can look western, modern and with her face she can look innocent, traditional Indian also. An improvement in acting doesn't mean she's talented. Looks and lot of luck are reasons for her rise.

Both! You gotta have luck, or density, if you call it and you need to be talented. Mos top heroines that are considered good actresses, say Bebo and PC, have survived their flops because they are talented, and have proven their worth. Deepika has had flops but she's proven she's here to stay. Deepika's best time is now, you go girl

As much as the public harps on certain actresses not having any acting skills, that has not stopped their them being successful in Bollywood. So talent does not guarantee success.

Luck has got a part to play in Deepika's success and it will be tested even further with her upcoming releases.

I think that her determination to succeed has definitely played a big part in her being in bollywood and also in getting the film offers that she is getting. It is a very enviable quality to have; she has never lost sight of her goal except for the time she was in a relationship with Ranbir.

Anybody remember in 2010, she had like 4 to 5 movies that were all flops back to back but she still was counted as the top actresses in that year as the top 4 actresses. So that says something. Even with flops

I always liked her . Except when she thrashed Ranbir on national tv . I bet Sonam goaded her into it. She didn't realize Sonam is someone's kid and she was an outsider . I keep saying this magical lineup of 2013 was mostly signed before Cocktail but they became real Garam only after Cocktail was a hit. Like Salman has Ready and Bodyguard before Dabangg but once that released the other films got so much hype

On that note I wanaa see SK DP once in my lifetime
