It was quite silly of them to pick Barfi for the Oscars. In my opinion, it was one of the best movies of 2012 but it was clearly obvious that its content were not completely original. And when a film is competing with the best films from other countries, then this is not going to work out in Barfi's favor.

They need a film that's not a typical Bollywood masala commercial fare, but also something desi and original too. Paan Singh Tomar is a good choice. English Vinglish is another one, but not Barfi

But Lagaan was nominated...it didn't win though ...they even showed the O re chaliya song during Oscars😆

OMG...why are people cribbing...every year we send Oscar entries...are all of them nominated?...heck no...so what if Barfi is not nominated...It was the perfect movie to send to Oscars...and EV is a beautiful movie due to Sridevi but its hardly good enough for Oscars...Other than Barfi...PST also would have been great..i was OK with any of these two..

EV WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR OSCAR NOMINATION NEXT YEAR!! Films btw 30rh SEPT 2011 ND 30TH sept 2012 were eligible for same

Barfi was an amzing movie.It was path breaking for BW.I loved it.But Oscars...it was too plagiarised too be eligible.

It defo should sweep the desi awards though.

plagiarized is the main reason why it didn't make it to the Oscars, copying somone's acting (or talant) its not call acting its called plagiarism

Till date only Mother India, Salaam Bombay and Lagaan have been nominated for Oscars. Paheli, Barfi and others were just sent as India's entries for Oscars by FFI.
