didn't they break up bcz of Babita ????

I dont think ajay dumped karishma rather he was dumped by her and was depressed about it too. Thats when kajol entered the scene as a friend first and later they quickly got married.

The love he never found
The same misfortune ruled where love was concerned. Throughout his life, Sanjeev was linked with over a dozen heroines including Hema Malini, Jayshree T, Sulakshana Pandit. "Every time he got involved with a woman, he was told by those close to him, 'Arre yaar yeh toh tere paise ke peeche hai (she's after your money)'. This would play on his mind. I'd say, 'Hari, are you mad? Can't you judge for yourself? This way, you'll never get married.'"

Anju adds, "I don't know whether he kept falling in love, or women kept falling for him. But there were lots and lots of women in his life. He was charming and had a wonderful smile. They tried wooing him by sending him tiffins. Some were genuinely in love with him. But he believed they were after his wealth. Sadly, at the end of the day he had neither a home nor a wife."

While Sanjeev was said to be heartbroken after Hema Malini allegedly declined his proposal, there were also stories that Sulakshana Pandit remained unmarried after her ruptured romance with the actor.

However, Anju says, "The one time he fell madly in love, it was with a married woman. The poor man went through a lot of hassles because of that and so did she. You realise what love actually is with time. Their mental level was the same; their age group was the same. But it was not meant to be."

P.S:This said actress was supposedly Nutan who later chose to remain faithful to her abusive husband and on his insistence even publicly slapped Sanjeev accusing him of fabricating stories of their affair and leaking them out to media.

Apparantly this was love affair sanjeev never recovered from and soon thereafter died a bachelor due to a cardiac arrest. Sulakshana always tended to him but he never saw more than a friend in her.
