Your latest flick is again breaking records. But critics said that Dabangg 2 was hardly any different from Dabangg?
Of course, it will bear the same story and look because Chulbul Pandey, Rajjo and his family are the same. It's an extension of the first version so how much more different can the second part be. Critics don't matter because the fact that people at least went once to the theaters, spent money and added to the collections of the BO results is proof that the movie is good!
You did Joker, Son of Sardaar and Dabangg 2. The movieshave been termed as entertainers where heroines hardly have much to do. Do you agree?
It's entertainment that counts. My films may be termed as films having funny scenes, but those funny scenes, like I said earlier have added to the BO collections. It is only when I do these funny films, I get an opportunity to do a Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera with Ranveer Singh. The big budget films are helping me get good work, because they have somewhere gotten me noticed and put me on the map with other heroines!
You recently rejected an ad because you were asked to reduce weight for it. Do you feel people are making a big issue of your weight?
No comments on whether I rejected the ad or not! Regarding the weight issue, I was playing a pregnant woman in Dabangg 2, so had to put on weight for the film. The sarees also make me look older. But I am happy that I look different from those thousands of actresses who are skinny and have reed thin figures. I think I have broken the mould that actresses have to be extremely thin on screen. All those who are making my weight an issue, just prove that people are jealous. These are people who have nothing to do in life, except to stare at their computer screens and make comments on us.
So do you feel that you have set a good example for women who are curvy?
Yes, I have a pretty active presence on social networking sites and everyday there are messages from so many young girls telling me that they are happy B-Town has curvy women like me. I feel you should be happy the way you are. Of course, fitness is important, but not to the extent of obsession!
How are you looking forward to 2013?
I have some good movies with younger heroes like Shahid (Kapoor), Ranveer (Singh) and Imran (Khan).
You refuse to call Salman Khan as Salman 'bhai', right?
