'Cocktail worked coz of timing' - Saif

At a time when remakes have managed to hit bull's eye at the box office, Saif Ali Khan is charting a different course. Cocktail, an original film, managed to rake in the moolah, and now Saif is looking forward to Race 2 .

Saif's choices may be down to the fact that he doesn't seem to believe in a formula. "I have been around for 20 years now and at the end of it all, a film is a film. Sometimes your film may not do well despite being well made but then if it is special, it stays on. The medium could be a DVD or satellite but if you have done something right, it will show in a long run," says Saif.

The actor adds that the timing plays a role as well. "Cocktail was not a classic. However, its timing worked for the audience," says Saif. He also accepts that he was a tad flabby in Cocktail but Race 2 will see him get back to his dapper self. "Yes, that was pointed out to me," he smiles. "I worked on that and am much fitter in Race 2."
