Mausam Heroine JTJH-birds of same feather? N:Pg26

I remember Mausam was hyped as the biggest love saga. People were very excited to watch it especially because of the fact that Pankaj Kapur was directing it. But what happened? It fell flat in its face...reviews were awful, BO collection was twice as bad.

More recently, Heroine met with the same fate. Kareena and Madhur hyped it to the max. Kareena went around saying it was her Madhur's best work (yea right!) till date, Madhur happily agreed. What happened? Fell flat on its face. It too was ripped apart by all and sundry for this its screen play.

Now Jab tak hain jaan seems to be veering towards the same direction as well. It was hyped up as this last epic love saga by Yash Chopra and all that jazz. The result isn't as optimistic. I haven't watched it nor have I kept myself abreast with what's going on at BS or at the theaters. But all I see is people ripping the script apart to pieces...critics' reviews are not as favorable either. Not sure what the BO status is.

But really...why make your film a hype-fest of epic proportions when you most likely know that the product is flawed on so many levels? At the same time, there are films that aren't hyped up at all yet they do surprisingly well. The blatant pretentiousness needs to go. Let the film speak for itself.

So is overkill of film promotions akin to digging your own grave these days?

but laila JTHJ has lived up to its hype! Of course the criticism and negativity would be there, like it is for every movie but i have seen the craze which people have for srk-kat and the movie, and this includes outside the IF world, its MASSIVE!

mausam was just a disaster-it wasn't even hyped as the faces just don't sell!

LOL I'm comparing the hype and the subsequent fall (well not yet for JTHJ at least) not the content. What's paining you? Too much hate for JTHJ? 😆

TBH, I'd be happy if JTHJ beats one of Salman's films. Don't like Salman at all these days.😆

Its a SRK film on Diwali. Plus, the hype would make one assume that it would sweep the BO like OSO did. But its nowhere close to that...not yet anyway.

WORD.

So basically, the moral of the story is...during promotions, STFU about how awesome your movie is going to be and let your work speak for itself. No need to claim it as some best thing ever to come out of Bollywood, (cuz that gives high expectations), only for the audience to see that the product is actually VERY flawed. Let the audience be the judge of the movie whether or not it is "the best" or how "epic" it is, after the movie comes out.

This actually applies to Kareena the most. Jeeez, the woman yaps on and on and on about a movie of her's, only to see that it's been panned by the public and critics both. It must be quite embarrassing to be her after a movie releases. 😆
