I don't care what the world says about SRK - calling him things from fake to gay to pompous to attention seeking and the blah! I myself have disliked him at a lot of points but that doesn't change the depth and intensity that he has. I , for one, am definitely going to read his life from his POV when he is done penning it. He is definitely someone interesting and different , with both his good and bad sides.

TFS.

I am really looking forward to this book he has been talking about for so long now. Whatever may be, this man has a way with words and I am sure it would be a great read. And somehow the line about him avoiding depression by acting seems true. He always wants to be on the move, doing things, hardly ever sleeps, almost make it seems like if he stops, he will have to deal with the sadness and emptiness, probably more so true since he lost some people very close to him recently.

The part about his sister is very emotional. I remember seeing her in one of those documentaries on Shahrukh. Shahrukh mentioned that she had a PhD in Psychology but ironically enough she hadn't been in the finest condition since their father's demise. Anyways, I am glad Shahrukh and Gauri are there to support her.

And Shahrukh, honestly, if you don't want to die like your father then please, for heavens sake, QUIT THE CHAIN SMOKING.

You know, this reminds me of a famous artist's quote whose name I cannot place right now. He had said that some of the most passionate artists create great work because they channelize the passion of their sadness and disappointments into craft. Maybe it does happen with some of them. SRK has talked about sitting alone on his terrace for hours , even when the whole family is in. Its like having everything and not knowing that what will make you happy. Stardom and this fandom is important to him because its a healthy refuge for him, from himself.

His chain smoking needs a legal deterrent. 😡... if his own mind doesn't kill him, this smoking will surely do the honours.

Very true. No wonder he keeps saying that he wouldn't know what to do if he got up the next day and there were no screaming fans in front of his house. Makes him sound very conceited but his work, his fans, his kids, are possibly the only things that keep him going. The documentary I saw had a moment where Shahrukh lay down in one of the closet areas during a break in one of his Temptations concert and eerily enough my heart just fell seeing him. It was just weird seeing him all alone, maybe because I have never seen him without a gazillion people around him, but strangely enough I am reminded of that scene when he talks about his loneliness. All the famous people have time and again said that it is very lonely at the top, I'm presuming this must be very true to a great extent.

The smoking irritates me to no end. I wish I could shake him and tell him to wake up. Sadness, depression, loneliness, etc. I get it, but smoking like a chimney is not a healthy way of dealing with it.

I agree that he really needs to give up smoking. If his depression doesn't drive him over the edge, then smoking sure will. I almost expect a SRK diagnosed with lung cancer headline someday..

But I think what he means when he says he doesn't want to die like his father is that he doesn't want to die being remembered as a failure...rather than dying of cancer in the literal sense.

Found it! Interesting watch for Shahrukh fans:

Talks about his sister from 25.58

Talks about his parents and their death from 23.30

Just adding the other part:

Aamir Khan appears at 11.27 praising Shahrukh. (Wonder why this friendship went kaput 😕)

Just see Shahrukh interacting with fans and your heart melts!

I always feel bad for SRK regarding his parents...I always wish that his parents were there to see even a bit of his success...but alas! the world and the life is so unfair sometimes...no matter how successful he is, this will always make him sad and create a void in his life because no amount of successes and nothing else in the world can fill the void of one's parents...wish he had at least one of his parents by his side and on top of that, his sister is still curing from the depression😔

He spoke a little about how he's trying to fill the void by acting during Don promotions when he visited Delhi. He was quite emotional during that interview since they shot in Delhi and he felt nostalgic and I thought he'd cry but he somehow joked around and covered his emotions

I can't wait till he finishes this book he's writing. He's indeed the best Indian dream ever

I vaguely remember the Koffee With Karan epi when SRK and Kajol came together as guests for the first time. I think Karan mentioned that SLB once said he felt that SRK was lonely...or that he could see sadness in his eyes (something along those lines!) I think Kajol laughed it off saying that it's not true. But after reading this, it's pretty obvious that SLB was right to pick up on it.

Actually even before this, I've always got the impression that SRK is depressed and there are a lot of things that have happened in his life which he has not been able to get over. It's sad and losing a parent at any age is heartbreaking. Having said that, his mental state of mind seems unhealthy! This is unhealthy talk and he needs help! No joke, I mean it. And I'm still slightly confused as to what he meant by failure - and the context in which he is saying this. But I personally find it hard to digest. Some may applaud him for his honesty, but I don't think it's right to be saying this about your father.

Rafa he didn't say anything so drastic. If you watch the video you'll understand what he means by the statement he made. Even I was confused with the article until I watched him speak

Something to do with Juhi, I think!Confused
Juhi and SRK have been friends for ages and Juhi was also best buddies with Aamir, since they debuted together! But later, there was a fracas between Aamir and Juhi over some issue, on which SRK sided with Juhi and hence, relations soured between Aamir and SRK!
In anycase, there has never been any love lost between Aamir and SRK! Especially since the time, Aamir boycotted the media and SRK used Filmfare Functions to make fun of him! I don't think Aamir has ever forgiven him for that!
SRK is amazing with his fans...he really connects with them on a personal level! I think he is the only star who truly loves his stardom and understands and values the fact that its his fans who have made him into what he is today...what I love most about SRK is that he is not detached unlike most other stars, who seem to get bored by their fans and their own stardom after a while! SRK looks just as enthusiastic and happy being surrounded and mobbed by his fans today as he was when he achieved stardom with Darr!
