Producer Manmohan Shetty's younger daughter Aarti Shetty threw a birthday party for Ranbir Kapoor on the night of September 27. Why was Aarti given the honour of throwing a party for RK Jr? Well, Aarti is very close to Ayan Mukerji and Ranbir as she has been working with Dharma Productions as an assistant director and it was her and Ayan's idea to have a bash for Ranbir.

The guest list, as everyone knows by now, included Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Anurag Kashyap, Kunal Roy Kapur, Rohit Dhawan and many other friends of Ranbir. Photographs of these celebrities arriving at the do have already made it to numerous media platforms.

What isn't public knowledge, though, is the the behind-the-scene machinations of this birthday bash. All through September 27; Deepika was shooting with Ranbir for Ayan's Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani at a Mumbai studio.

So obviously she was in the loop about the celebration to be held for her ex-boyfriend later that night. However, till a couple of hours before the party, there was huge stress on whether Deepu will make it to the party or not. In fact, Deepu is said to have confessed to someone close that she may or may not actually make it for the party.

One hears that the reason for Deepika's dilemma is the fact that Katrina, who is reportedly in a close association with Ranbir currently, didn't fancy having Deepika at the party. Our source says, "There is nothing between Deepika and Ranbir currently. They are co-stars in Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and share a cordial equation. It is clear that Ranbir has moved on in life. However, Kat allegedly didn't fancy having Deepu at RK's party because she is still threatened by her presence."

Our source also added that a lot of people had to intervene and ensure Deepika got invited because her absence would have made things more obvious; especially since Anushka, the other girl with whom Ranbir is slated to do Bombay Velvet and who has also been very friendly with him, had also made it to the guest list. Says one of the guests from the party, "Just imagine how odd it would've looked if Katrina and Anushka were at the party. And Deepika, who was shooting with Ranbir all through the day, wasn't included. In fact, Deepika and Ranbir maintain that they are friends and Deepu's not being at the party would definitely send out the wrong signals."

Bachpan ka, may be. Did they become friends during Ranbir used to chakkar kaating around Frumpet? According to rumors, Vandana Malik used to get pissed as Ranbir often used to go to the sets of Just Mohabbat to pursue her beti.

It would have been weird if he had not shown up to the party since he is in the film and was probably shooting for it the same day. How awkward it would have been for him to know that there was a party and he wasn't invited. So they invited him. 🤓

DP was there last year too.. Kat-Ranbir-DP seem fine with each other.. but we've got a movie to promote damnit.
