Jess you should be happy that performance oriented films are now making it big and reaping BO success, either way it's good for the industry whether it touches 100 crore or not keeping your personal likes/dislikes aside.

did you read the whole topic? did i anywhere say im unhappy ? i just said the movie is not in 100 crore club just made 100 crore club worldwide. I didnt mention anything but that, so bringing in my likes/dislikes was by certain member, so was addressing that member as it was totally unnecessary.

This term '100 crore club' needs to be banished from the face of the Earth. Every time I hear it, I get nightmares of Salman/ Akshay Kumar/ Ajay Devgn kak and nothing but. It's got such a negative connotation to it (to me anyway).

But I'm really glad Barfi is doing good business. I saw the film on the first day itself and think it's a true work of art. Never mind that several scenes have been 'inspired' from foreign films (actually, that is a serious issue, but we'll see later). Never mind the length. Never mind a few manipulative scenes and unnecessary sub-plots. Its imperfection makes me like it even more.

I think visually, so to me, the film was poetry on celluloid. Some scenes stay on in your mind, and that's not something many films these days can boast of. The plot per se wasn't any great shakes, but the way Anurag Basu treated the film was a joy to behold. Everything from cinematography to background score to casting was a win for me.

So yes, I hope Barfi surpasses the other useless gunk in this '100 crore club'. But of course that's wishful thinking.

Its highly commendable knowing that it was released in just 700 screens. Its a very big achievement. Congrats to the Team BARFI. Hope it makes 100crore soon in domestic market. 👏

Not only does Barfi have a limited release, but there are so many other factors why the success of the movie is more commendable..it has no item songs, no chartbuster HIT songs, no exposing, very few dialogues, a film which has 2 differently abled characters as the lead characters--a deaf, mute guy and an autistic girl...the director's last film was trashed, when Ranbir-PC last film together was the trashed Anjaana Anjaani ...and many more..
Barfi's run @ the BO has surpassed everyone's expectations honestly...and I am so glad it has :) Actually I'm glad this year we had a few movies that suprised everyone with how succesful they were :)

Yup, it was a true underdog movie of this year. Hopefully after this producer won't hesitate investing in such kind of movie. I always wanted this movie to be successful. Initially the producer didn't even paid much attention to this movie. Instead they were busy promoting their next release Heroine. I even requested on UTV's page to focus more on Barfi and promote it extensively instead of the other film. I'm very happy that eventually it was Barfi which emerged more profitable.

And that is perhaps the BEST part of films like Kahaani, Barfi, PST, VD, GOW doing well at the BO..it's a good trend for films in India. It shows the producers that hey the Indian audience IS able to appreicate well-made films with good, entertaining stories even if the films are "different" also..It's not only films with big stars, item song, seeti-maar dialogues...typical 80's action films that will work at BO. Yayy :)
UTV put Barfi in between Joker and Heroine because they thought that Joker and Heroine would be more profitable..so even if Barfi flops it would be okay.
Yeah in the beginning they weren't even promoting Barfi much. It was all Heroine Heroine Heroine.. They really picked up the promotions for Barfi in the last 2 weeks or so and that definitely helped tons :D Their "Flavour of Barfi" campaign was really innovative and cute..I think that was a veryy good idea.

That sounds right 😆
I generally like watching Ranbir's movies (barring a few headaches) and I think he's a VERY good actor, but I still wouldn't call myself a full-blown fan of his...atleast not yet. 😆
