Yes, religion is important [for those who follow it, of course]. For the followers of their respective faiths, religion plays a pivotal role in shaping their day-to-day life and activities.

However...

In the case of these film stars, it is obvious that religion does not hold any importance. The Muslim actors don't pray the obligatory five-times-a-day prayers, recite the holy book on Fridays, or even fast, to say the least. The Hindu actors are seen visiting temples only to seek blessings prior to the release of their movies. We don't hear about them talk about religion or behave in a modest way as prescribed by religion, in any way.

The question is: If religion provides guidelines to living one's life in a certain way, why are their so many affairs, live-in relationships, and prenuptial and extra-marital affairs? The point here is that religion, for these movie stars, DOES NOT EXIST and DOES NOT HOLD ANY IMPORTANCE. Well, at least Saif would be on the rock bottom of the list when it comes to religion. What difference does it make if she converts or not? It's not like she's going to spread the prayer mat and prostrate before God. So why create an unnecessary fuss over the issue and throw tantrums about it?

Just my two cents worth!

Saif would be a jerk if he pressured her to convert. And Kareena would be a bimbo if she converted on her own. Why give up such a large part of your identity for some guy. Is he going to convert to Hindu for her? I think not. I have no use for girls who doesn't respect themselves and the families they come from.

I agree with most of what you said, it's just the last part that really caught my attention. She comes from a family where morals and ethics don't matter. We all know what kinda men existed in the Kapoor clan, and we also know of her mother's standards of upbringing. They don't qualify for a respect-worthy family image.

You people forget one of the basics of marriage. MARRIAGE IS ROOTED IN RELIGION. it is a RELIGIOUS ceremony NOT CULTURAL. If you want to SEPERATE religion then GO GET A CIVIL Union. Which has NO roots in religion.

Its like the gay marriage movement. They wanted a marriage in a CHURCH. A church that doesnt even recognize their union. Its so bizarre.

Most probably he wont. But it also goes without saying that their union MIGHT not be acknowledged by the nawabis and there might be issues with property when children come into the picture.

Agree with you!!

For the last one:

HSSHHH!! The gay "moral" police is on a lookout. Start praying. You will be doomed if you against their ideologies.

actually fardeen khana nd natasha madhawani got a civil marriage and was blessed by all the family members. really applaudable. also zaid khan and his wife, another Hindu muslim marriage. but HR to suzanne was done with ceremonies i guess.

All such nawabis and princely states got officially abolished in 1977. So the nawabi is not official anymore, just a formality and property and all are basically private properties. only the waqf is headed by saba ali khan , not by saif. There should be no issues, atleast not legally. But considering how we still go gaga over princes or nawabs, i doubt people remember this small bit of info.

Yeah, who knows? I read that inheritance for kareenas kids might be an issue.

Amrita was already half muslim therefore she had no problems going forth with a muslim marriage so inheritance was never an issue.

I think people should just back off and let the two involved decide what they want to do. Whether that means kareena converts or saif converts. Fans and others should just contend themselves with the fact that the union is FINALLY taking place.
