How rocking was the second half???First half was major letdown though... had to make conscious effort not to doze off. Wish the script was better but overall, an enjoyable film which needs to be seen on the big screen for the brilliant action and great locales!Much much much better than Bodyguard, Ready, Wanted, but not on par with Dabangg
Indore: Salman Khan doesn't mind setting the box office on fire!
Salman's magnum opus Ek Tha Tiger is smashing records at Indore ticket counters, with all shows receiving an overwhelming response -- the cash registers are still furiously ringing.
Contributing to the tremendous buzz around the film is the fact that Salman Khan and sex bomb Katrina Kaif are sharing screen space after four years.
All the shows are housefull everywhere and the first-day collections pan-India should be Rs 30 crore, trade pundits said.
The historical opening which EK Tha Tiger has received with an unorthodox Wednesday release in Indore has given new dimensions to the growing trend of pre-Friday movie releases among Bollywood big banners. The trend has helped Indoreans relive the old tradition of Thursday releases.
Prior to the advent of television and video cassettes, this Madhya Pradesh district had a distinction of being a lone centre where movies used to be released through single screening on Thursdays.
Bollywood's big cat Salman has created a history by becoming the fastest grosser in just five days. The tiger roars aloud with a whopping 100.16 crores of business in the shortest possible time.
"Ek Tha Tiger has packed a solid punch in its opening weekend, smashing all records left, right and centre. The biz is bigger than Salman Khan's last release Bodyguard, which was his biggest opener and grosser to date. It is the fastest 100 cr grosser ever and Salman's fourth after Dabangg, Ready and Bodyguard. The business is expected to get further boost from Monday onwards (Eid). It has so far collected approx Rs. 100.16 cr nett in its extended weekend (Wednesday to Sunday). Mind-boggling!," informs film critic and trade pundit Taran Adarsh.
New Delhi: Salman Khan's 'Ek Tha Tiger' continues to break records in India and overseas. The film has become Salman Khan's biggest hit in New Zealand. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweets, "#EkThaTiger is @BeingSalmanKhan's biggest hit in New Zealand. Biz at par with #3Idiots, #MNIK and #Housefull2 there."
Adarsh further gives the break-up of the business, "#EkThaTiger *New Zealand* Wed NZ$ 5,794 [3 screens yet to report]. Total: NZ$ 176,143 [Rs 79.38 lacs]."
The film is also doing well in Australia, "#EkThaTiger *Australia* Wed A$ 15,227. Total: A$ 494,248 [Rs 2.87 cr]. Ranks amongst the biggest grossers in Australia."
The business in UK is also not slowing down, "#EkThaTiger *UK* Wed 71,790 [25 screens yet to report]. Total: 888,650 [Rs 7.79 cr]. Racing towards 1 million mark!"
The film's box office performance has posed a threat for Aamir Khan's '3 Idiots' which is Bollywood's highest grossing film till date.
Mumbai: Kabir Khan, who is the director of Ek Tha Tiger, says that Salman Khan is a legendary actor and only he could play the role of Tiger so brilliantly in Bollywood. Kabir Khan also said that Tiger Salman Khan sab ka baap hai (he is bigger than anybody else).
Talking to a leading website, Kabir Khan said, "If you call any other guy in Bollywood a 'tiger', it sounds very cheesy. But with Salman, you can be sure that woh sab ka baap hai (he is bigger than anybody else)."
Kabir Khan further added, "With Salman on board, I didn't have to spend much time establishing that he is a tiger. Just five minutes into the film, and you will realize that woh sab ka baap hai (he is bigger than anybody else). A film like ETT needed a legendary star like Salman to do justice to the spy that the film is loosely based upon. He would have been overcast for a film like Kabul Express, but Ek Tha Tiger needed Salman."
Well, we agree Kabir indeed Salman Khan is the baap of Bollywood!
Mumbai: Yes, you read it right. Salman Khan does not consider himself a star. Salman Khan says that the hero that people see on screen or in the movie Ek Tha Tiger is not the real Salman.
In an interview to Anupama Chopra (The Front Row), Salman Khan said, "Why would I think of myself as a star? That's a different image (pointing to the poster of Ek Tha Tiger). I worked in that film but that does not mean that's me. There must be 5% or 10% of me in that. If you're believing that, that man is me then it's a bummer. That means your thinking is so going wrong."
Salman Khan further added, "I want to do the films that I want to watch correct? So that is the kind of films I'm doing. I want to watch heroism. Now I will be 70 years old. I don't suit the bill to play Tiger then. I'd be a mad man to try that or to try a romantic film at 70."
Well Salman, for us you will always be a star!!
