Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger continues to roar at the box office

The Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Ek Tha Tiger directed by Kabir Khan, released on Independence Day, has had a phenomenal response at the box office. According to its production house, Yash Raj Films' officials, the first day collections were Rs.32.92 crore, which is by far the highest opening collection for any film till date.

The film has indeed broken all records. In less than a fortnight, it had grossed over Rs. 200 crores! Besides, the film also creates a new record for the fastest Rs. 100 crore earning at the box office. Seems like Ek Tha Tiger could soon break the record haul of 3 Idiots, which was Rs. 385 crore, too.

"The film has opened to a crazy response, so there are chances that the total box office collection will increase.

Since the film was strategically released on a week that included Independence Day as well as Eid, it had an advantage," said trade analyst Vajir Singh.

Music review

Ek Tha Tiger has eight tracks, a mix of compositions by Sajid-Wajid, Sohail Sen and Julius Packiam. The album opens up with "Mashallah", a groovy number sung by Wajid and Shreya Ghoshal.

Next up on the playlist is "Laapta". It makes you itch to hit the dance floor and groove the night away. "Banjaara" follows next. The expectations from this number were high given that it is sung by Sukhwinder Singh, who has one of the most distinct and original voice in Bollywood.

One goes on a musical high with the next, "Saiyaara", a soft and slow song. Last but not the least is "Tiger's Theme", which has some electronic beats and elements that remind you of James Bond themes.

Overall, the soundtrack of "Ek Tha Tiger" offers the listener the romantic and action flavour of the movie.

No sequel to Ek Tha Tiger

Despite the ending of Salman Khan starrer superhit film 'Ek Tha Tiger' leaving a scope for a sequel, the makers have denied any such move.

"We have not thought of a sequel for 'Ek Tha Tiger'. We don't have any idea (story line) for the sequel," Kabir informed.

Even the producers have denied making a sequel. "With the success of the film, it would be the obvious conclusion for anybody to assume that the film deserves a sequel. However, as of now, there are no such plans and it is more conjecture," Yash Raj Films' vice president (marketing and communications) Rafiq Gangjee said.

Salman's Ek Tha Tiger earns Rs 185 cr at Indian Box Office in week 2

Ek Tha Tiger opened to an overwhelming response at the collection centres across the country. The romantic action flick had set a new record at the desi Box Office by collecting Rs 154.21 crores nett in the nine day extended first week. Its business dropped by 80% in the second weekend when compared to its first weekend collection. It added Rs 21.74 crores nett to its 12 day total earning Rs 174.95 crore nett.

The collection of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer movie further witnessed fall from Rs 9 crore to Rs 2.92 crore on the second Monday. Its business continued to drop on the following days in the second week. Ek Tha Tiger added Rs 10.10 crore on weekdays to its 16 day total Rs 185.05 crore nett. The breakup of its weekdays collection is Rs 2.92 cr on Mon, Rs 2.60 cr on Tue, Rs 2.39 cr on Wed and Rs 2.19 cr on Thur.

However, Ek Tha Tiger has to collect Rs 15 crore nett to surpass Rs 200 crore mark at the domestic Box Office. But the movie has to face tough competition from Akshay Kumar's Joker, which is releasing in theatres today. It may not be able to cross this mark in the third weekend.
