Barfee freezes in date game

Anurag Basu's Barfee starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz is taking much longer than expected and its release date has also been pushed back. Rumour has it that the makers are working on a patchwork for Barfee and also lightening up Ranbir's character.

However, Anurag Basu said, "I am not the kind of director who would like to shout standing on the rooftop. No one has seen a single scene from Barfee. They (media) are just feeding their own thoughts in their articles. Ranbir has completed his shooting. We have done our job to the best of our abilities. I am not baffled about the release date of the film. All three films ' Joker, Heroine and Barfee ' belong to UTV and they decide the release dates."

The release date of Joker has been shifted to August 31, said Anurag, adding, "Our film Barfee has been pushed to September 14. I finished the film within the duration of one year' this is just the perfect time taken [to complete a film]. Usually films take that much time. According to me there is no delay at all. We have finished our work on time and there is no delay as such. Change of release dates by the producers is no big deal."

UTV's Sujata Chanda said, "Actually, I am not the right person to quote. I have been misquoted. I was trying to just help him out with the details about the release dates which is again not my decision." Illeana, on her part, is not letting these hitches get the best of her. A calm and confident Illeana says, "I am not disappointed at all since it's a dream debut for me."

"I am essaying a challenging and de-glamourised role. After being hailed as a glam queen in Telugu, I wanted my B'town debut to be hatke," she adds. All praises for director Basu, Illeana says, "The director is a perfectionist and a multil-starrer takes time. In fact, the film is on time and we are planning to release the teaser trailers on July 2."

Actualy u are right.Ranbir ne oven main barfi rakha tha aur bhulgaya.Jab bans marne laga.

Tab ek reporter tak durgandh pahuncha to bo likha Barfi ko freez main rakhna tha oven main nahin.

Film delayed again as producers cave in to concerns about its unconventional content
Anurag Basu's film Barfi starring ranbir kapoor,Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz, which has been in the making for nearly 16 months now, has once again been postponed. This time by at least a fortnight.

First, it was Imtiaz Ali's Ranbir-starrer Rockstar for which Basu repeatedly sacrificed his dates. Next, it was Priyanka Chopra who had difficulty keeping aside three to four days needed to complete the film. And now the inside buzz is there's much behindthe-scenes debate over Barfi's unconventional content, so much so producers UTV are insisting on lightening the mood of the film some more.
While Anurag and Ranbir have repeatedly said Barfi is not a grim and dark film, the producers still believe Ranbir's character needs lightening up. A source close to the film said, "Barfi, for all the claims by its makers and actors is finally about physical and emotional handicaps."
Apparently, a repair job is in the offing. "Some additional music is being recorded. And some light-hearted scenes featuring Ranbir and Priyanka will have to be shot," said our source. Anurag Basu chose to be defensive: "So many other films that have started after me, including Karan Johar's Student of the Year are not complete. A false perception is being created that I am taking longer to complete this film than necessary."
He did admit though that some shooting is still left to be done. "There's a couple of days of patchwork shooting left. We're working on the editing, background music and post-production of the film," he said.
Asked whether the producers found the film too grim, he said, "They have three films lined up in August and September: Joker, Heroine and my film. It's their call in what sequence they want to release them."
Sujata Chanda from UTV said, "We wanted to capitalise on the successful Rowdy Rathore pair hence Joker has been pushed ahead to August 31. Barfi on the other hand needed some more post-production, so the date has been postponed to September 14." Will Barfi manage to keep this date? All Basu said was: "That's the date I've been told.Baqi sab UTV ke haath mein."
