Vishwaroopam is an upcoming Indian Tamil-Hindi bilingual spy thriller film written, directed and co-produced by Kamal Haasan that features himself in the lead role.[2][3] The film, also has Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles. The soundtrack is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics by Vairamuthu for the Tamil and Javed Akhtar for the Hindi versions respectively. The film was shot with the same cast in both languages simultaneously, and is titled in Hindi as Vishwaroop.

Development of the project commenced after the release of Kamal's Manmadhan Ambu, and several of the crew were imported from Hollywood. The direction department was taken over by Kamal Haasan from Selvaraghavan, and reports indicating a comparison with Hollywood films surfaced during the production. The initially estimated budget was aroundINR150 crore (US$29.93 million), making it one of the most expensive Indian films. Due to delays, casting took a relatively long period of time, with several of the original cast dropping out of the project. The film was shot extensively overseas, in countries including Kazakhstan, the United States and Canada, while domestic locations included Chennai and Mumbai.

Haha, reminds me of this quote I read sometime back!

It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Kamal Haasan is far better an actor than any of the delusional Bollywood Hunks with six-packs and nil-acting-skills. Oh wait, who wants to be a Bollywood Star here... Din't Kamal Haasan already prove himself in Bollywood with Sadma, Saagar, Hey Ram, Chachi 420 and likes? 😆

Mamooty is even a better actor. He knows his market though.

And all those films were flops except Chachi. Ek Duje ke liye would have been a better example.

Do you really believe Mamoothy would not do a Hindi Movie? Btw, a flop or a hit doesn't dictate whether an actor is good or not! People around the film industry still respect Kamal Haasan, as much as they do Mamoothy and Mohanlal. If only Bollywood takes off it's glasses of self-fame and looks at the real world.

Mamoothy might do a bollywood film, he has before but he won't invest 150 Cr on a film and expect to make a lot of it back from the Hindi version. Kamal Hassan is one of the best actors in Indian cinema but he's not Rajnikanth. His hindi version is a guaranteed disaster. So unless he expects to make 150 cr from the tamil version, its a terrible investment.

Well people do pay up huge amounts to go watch his movies, and am sure he is as famous as Rajnikanth.

ps - If I come across as an ardent Kamal fan, then am not. It's just ur ignorance and dislike for anything non-Bollywood that irked me!

Ignorance?

Your the one whose ignorant to the fact that Kamal Hassan is not saleable in N.India. Period.

His last film Dashavatar was a complete wipe out. Robot on the other hand did huge business. So you're also ignorant to THE FACT that Kamal Hassan is not Rajnikanth.

So, please go back and re-read what I wrote. Nothing I've written is ignorant. Kamal Hassan is a superstar in Tamil. His film will recover its money there. 150 cr, probably not. If he's expecting to recover it in Hindi, then it won't happen. Only Rajni can make that happen.
