Go to Mumbai and ask a person or someone who works in Bollywood for that matter to talk in pure Urdu/Hindi for atleast 10 mins and trust me.. that person won't be able to. Because the fact is that even though the national language is Hindi most people in big modern cities prefer to talk in English and parents too want their children to learn English first. Then how can some Indians criticize her for not knowing the diction keeping in mind that she spent most of her live outside India.

She can speak English with her collegues and friends etc, but if you turn up on a Hindi speaking show like Kaun Banega Crorepati or Big Boss to participate and promote your film, then at least have the basic courtesy to speak in Hindi... I remember she turned up on Big Boss during the time that Amitabh hosted the show, AB requested her to speak in Hindi, to which she replied.. "Nooo, don't be mean" 😳

Most of India do not speak in English, they may know a few english words, but that isn't tantamount to speaking the language.

Fact is, she's been living there for 10 years, and it doesn't take that long to learn the language.

Come on guys. When someone learns a language after the age of 20, they will have an accent. There may be exceptions to this, but that's how it usually is. Katrina will always have an accent when speaking Hindi, she even has an accent speaking English. She can't help it.

If Katrina made an attempt to speak Hindi, nobody would mind the accent or lack of grammar or anything like that!


When Jean Dujardin won Academy for Best Actor, he spoke in ENGLISH. he didnt know much of it, it was all screwed up, but he spoke it, out of respect for the institution and people.

Many spanish actresses in Hollywood or anybody, learns to SPEAK the language.
