It was an ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER, it broke so many record and refer that film as landmark in Indian cinema. Mohra was second biggest hit that year with a huge gap between their collections. Also, Gadar was big, but still couldn't beat Hum Aapke Hain Kaun & DDLJ, in inflation records.

Gadar is the most watched film in the modern era.
It was a phenomena that will never occur again. HAHK is very close though.
And you think Salman fans are rowdy?
I was delhi during Gadar and it was MAYHEM.

I believe that was for his action. They didnt dance like a moron during a song scene right?
Yamla Pagla Deewana has opened extremely well at single screen across the country. In Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Rajasthan single screens are huge with some screens even going over capacity. In Punjab and Lucknow, the posters of Dharmendra and Sunny Deol were garlanded by their fans while in CP Berar the prints were garlanded by their fans, the other star to whom this has happened to over the past few years is Salman Khan. | |

Indian was a massive hit. Tere naam was an average grosser.
Infact Indian is best known for releasing on the same day as SRK's Asoka and destroying it.
