Back in town in a new avtar, Yash Chopra's younger son is busy playing mentor to the banner's latest blue-eyed girl Parineeti Chopra
Uday Chopra has not had it easy. Living up to his father's legacy and overshadowed by the uber talented elder brother Aditya, Uday has struggled hard to find a foothold in the industry. After failing to establish his acting capabilities, Uday had gone abroad to study. And even then, a fun post on a microblogging site where he casually mentioned that he was 'quitting acting', led to a barrage of nasty, personal comments. But now, all that seems to be changing. Close on the heels of YRF's big announcement about roping in Nicole Kidman for the production house's first international venture which he is spearheading, Uday is back in town. And that too with a bang, attending the years' two biggest bashes in Bollywood - Karan Johar's fortieth birthday on Friday night and Priyanka Chopra's party for cousin Parineeti the next day.
With elder brother Aditya choosing to lead a reclusive life away from the media glare, looks like Uday has now decided to be the face of Yash Raj Films. And interestingly, the 39-year-old YRF scion has also decided to turn mentor for the banner's latest blue-eyed girl Parineeti.
While for KJo's birthday bash, he arrived with Parineeti in tow, we spotted him making a repeat performance the next day for Priyanka's do.
A source from the party revealed, "Parineeti arrived rather early, around 9.30 pm for the party. Uday came in around 11 pm. Priyanka walked in within 20 minutes of Uday. The celebrations began after that. YFilms was Uday's brain child to nurture young talent. Parineeti is the new YRF sweetheart. He is being there for her as a mentor. One shouldn't read too much into them arriving together. Parineeti in fact calls him Uday 'Sir'."
What is also striking is Uday, who had so long chosen to be rather reserved when it came to media events, is attending two back-to-back parties. A source from the industry revealed, "Aditya Chopra isn't the most media friendly man. Uday too, though not anti-social, maintained a distance from media events after being scalded by unfavourable reviews and a relationship gone sour. He is known to party only with close friends and family. For example, he had always been a part of Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan's private bashes. He has also guarded his private life closely - be it his alleged link up with Tanisha Mukherjee or Rinke Khanna."
Explaining the actor's sudden decision to make public appearances, another source said, "Uday is now ready to carry on the YRF legacy. He is going out as the face of YRF entertainment. Unlike earlier, he now has a lot to talk about. He has established the YRF overseas business.
