Keeping my bias aside, Aamir Khan's star power and connect did make a huge difference. Caught a glimpse of it. Who cares about TRPs [ that's if it's low], shows like this are important for awareness.

@Billa-Personally,I feel that Aamir has done a great job as the creative mind behind the show.If a star is behind a particular cause,it will have an impact over people's mind.Last year's national award winning movie,I AM stressed upon child sexual abuse but go and ask people on the streets, how many of them watched the film?It was a flop when it released. But this show has Aamir, who is a star and if he is using his popularity for something good for the society,it is appreciable.👍🏼Agar maan bhi le that Aamir is doing it only for dikhawa and show off, bhala society ka hi ho raha hain. How many of us in the forum here, think about these issues in day to day life?I didn't even know a child helpline existed before it was shown in SJ.

👏 superb post SB 👏

Why dont do you just cut out sex scenes, as their is no need for them.

What does that have to do with the bill that passed? You think cutting sex scenes stops child molestation? 😕

Everyone knows that the megastar, Amitabh Bachchan not only rules the Indian Film Industry but the Bollywood biggie is the superstar of the small screen as well; as his show Kaun Banega Crorepati is still the ruler.

still he couldn't get the bill pass for sexual abuse for children...even such a megastar he is...aamir could do it.

Did SMJ REALLY have any part to play in the Bill being passed? There are many things people have felt strongly about but it did not translate into a law coming to effect this soon. Look at Lokpal. This Bill was due anyway and the episode aired at the right time to generate enough hype.
I really hope LS passed the Bill reading their White paper properly than due to stirrings caused by SMJ or anything.

Aa gaya aa gaya...credit chor aa gaya. 😆 Or rather the limelight hogger in the media.
But...
My congratulations to all the various people- NGOs, experts who have been working in the field of child care. The Child Protection bill being passed is a result of all the hard work that y'all have put in over all these years. Thank You.

Yes. The show did not single handedly pass the bill, but it played a part. Clearly, there are many NGOs, social workers, and politicians who cared about the issue for years now. They drafted the bill, they brought it to parliament and they encouraged voting. The show aired at the right time to give the final little push needed to get it through quickly. Politicians have a tendency to dally bills. Instead of passing bills swiftly, they debate and postpone hoping to reap some monetary or political benefits from people desperate to pass the bill. There are not many political organizations in India watching parliament like a hawk and making public aware of bills in debate and what good work is being procrastinated. So what the show did was remove the reasons for politicians to dally the bill and ensured that it passed swiftly. The bill would have eventually passed for sure, the show just made it swifter. Of course I would give most of the credit to social workers, cops and others who have put their sweat and tears into trying to protect children for years now – but Aamir's show deserves its fair share for ensuring the final push through.

I really like the research put into this show. It's a good show so I'm worried of it acquiring a bit of Aamir-ness to it.😆 His credit-hogging.So, I was really wary of the 'impact' of SMJ I've been hearing. Any ulterior purpose can be forgiven to a large extent if the show actually made an useful contribution somewhere. But this particular issue, I'm not really convinced.

I still feel SMJ getting Rajasthan Govt., to promise action far more convincing than this(even though I'm sure the Govt., won't be doing much). Given how this bill was introduced in summer session last year and the winter session consumed by Lokpal, mines, food security and other long-standing bills it was obvious PCSA would be pushed to this year's summer or winter session. Would it have been passed if not for SMJ's little push as well? Maybe, maybe not. I can't help sensing a shrewd mind for airing an episode around this time.If not for a timing like this what would have happened? I'd rather see what it does without a convenient situation around. Probably in the coming episodes...
