The Bachchan's real name is Srivastav??

I was just reading this randomly and read Abhishek's on number 3.

What in the world?? The Bachchan's real is not Bachchan? Did Amitabh's father use it like Akshay does? Like his real name is also Rajiv Om Bhatia, but he goes by Akshay Kumar. Wow, I never knew this about the Bachchans. But there is no other news of this so I don't know if it can be trusted?

Also found this on wikipedia...so i guess its true.

The original last name of his family is Shrivastava, Bachchan being the pen name used by his grandfather. However, when his father Amitabh entered films, he did so under his father's pen name. Bachchan is of Kayastha heritage from his father's side

Bacchan is Not a surname

mostly Writers , politicians etc use some kinda different name for themself like Harivansh used Bacchan

and his sons also used it hence it has become like a surname

another example in Punjab almost every politician use their village name after their name like a surname just to make their village famous ... Chief Minister use Badal ... but its not his surname ...his surname is Dhillon ... but he uses his Village name Badal after his name hence his son, his bros etc also use it and it has almost become like a surname
