Dream Projects: Veer (Salman), Ra.One (Shahrukh), Agent Vinod (Saif)

Veer - Salman Khan's dream project came in the year 2010 co-starring newcomer Zarine Khan. It was one of the most anticipated movies of 2010 as the story of the movie was written by salman himself. The film was directed by Anil Sharma who gave blockbuster Gadar. Despite the hype the movie only managed to do Below Average Business at box office

Ra.One - Shahrukh Khan's dream project was none other than Ra.one, said to be bollywood's big superhero movie, ra.one was eagerly waited for. Ra.one was directed by Anubhav Sinha who directed Dus. Kareena Kapoor & Arjun Rampal were seen alone side SRK in the movie. Made on a big budget Ra.one managed to get a Hit status at box office

Agent Vinod - Next on the list is Saif Ali Khan's as Kareena says baby Agent Vinod. After been delayed from 2011 to 2012, AV finally got released on 23/03/2012. The movie opened to mixed reviews from critics and managed to make 9.50 crores on its first day. Though the collection is not that bad, for a big budget movie like AV, much more was expected. Sriram Raghavan directed AV who gave critical hits like Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddar.

Aamir's Mangal Pandey should be included in the list too. He devoted nearly half a decade to that project.

SRK also had another dream project: Asoka.

It seems the Khans' dream projects have a tendency to not work at the BO. Although it's a little early to call Agent Vinod a flop.

By today's box office standards Mangal Pandey would have been a clean hit if not super hit. It doubled its opening week in the final run after record opening. Even the biggest of hits don't do that today. Such strict was box office back then. But that's another topic all together.

Coming to such big dream projects they always seem to be a major disappointments more often than not. Its been the same historically. On the positive side the dream projects which have turned out to be good have become historic hits.

Among the three here Agent Vinod is easily the best and with proper editing could have been a lot lot better. The remaining two nothing could have saved them.

SRK experimented a new concept with raone... a concept which was new n which wasnt much appreciated by the indian audience...i bet u if this movie was a HW movie it wud hav worked...anyway regardless of whether it was a hit/flop u hav 2 giv credit 2 SRK for tryin a new concept n experimenting @ a time wer onli comedy films wer ruling... and also the movie made mre than 100 crore...onli cos of him

srk was awesome in da movie n cudnt imagine ne1 else bt SRK do this role... he was just amazing... but at the same time i prefer seeing him in romantic movies... movies like KKHH and DDLJ wer u jus fall in love with him/his character... srk rules...
