I think her problem is that she is not going anywhere with movies, so she acts like she is the best fashionesta ever in Bollywood too boost her confidence. Sonam your not all that. Please stop all this I actually like u...don't ruin it.

People seriously want to know my theory? A lot of it is just intuition and gut instinct. When she first came to Bollywood she was a bit of a plain Jane. People perceived her as frumpy, but to me it came off as if she would rather be wearing grungy denims and flannel [flannel shirts are a surefire telltale sign. Not flannel PJs though]. There is something different about her gait and the way she carries herself. This whole fashionista image is such a departure from her early days. It is too overbearing and contrived. No wonder it is so jarring and irritating to people. She is overdoing it to portray some hip and femme personality, that is clearly not her. Her whole current image of Indian woman/diva just does not gel.

Then there is her personality. You don't see her gushing over male celebs like some of her other contemporaries do. The media also doesn't seem to keen or excited to be linking her in affairs or gush about her scandalous sex appeal. Her sense of humor and attitude also is different.

I thought I was alone with my conspiracy theory but then Hindu4lyf another member on IF saw Sonam at a club and now shares my suspicions.

Then again I have theories on Miley Cyrus and Hrithik Roshan as well.

@Taco – she is on the track to become a lipstick hasbian but I think she is a LUM at least.

On a side note, I'd actually count myself as a Sonam fan. I really liked her in Delhi 6 and even in Saawariya. I find that she has a very natural understated appeal which I really enjoy, not the usual Bollywood histrionics. She has a lot of potential and I think she should learn from Vidya Balan. I think Sonam can essay some good female roles that are not the conventional Bollywood damsel in distress or glam gal. I even like her personality. There is a lot of fakeness and pretences in show biz. A lot of the women in the industry will portray themselves as mature and ladylike but they are not. So I find Sonam refreshing, there are no bones about her. She is a bit immature and may try to be glamorous, but she's pretty straightforward and has no pretences. But that's just my perceptions. I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch because others can't stand her. Do and say as you will. I ain't thought police.

hahahahaha loved your theory RTH! But I really think there are many girls who are a lot like men because they consciously do it...they abhor discrimination against girliness in society (feminists) and so pick up on boy traits just so that they are not grouped with "those silly girls"...I get that vibe Sonam a lot- be it her clothes, her specs, her love for vdo games, love for gadgets (but she doesn't like sports though)...but then in BW if you are not girly you won't get anything...so being pretty is important! (I relate to this that's why I am saying...I could be totally wrong here...and I am no bi or so i think 😆)

in any case, many research have shown that most people have bi tendencies...otherwise how do we girls appreciate hotness of another girl or how does a man appreciate hotness of another man... we may all be socially conditioned to like the opposite sex...who knows.

^I also want to add that many times parents do this too...I know my parents made sure that they didn't turn me into a typical girl...so I played a lot with cars, planes and legos and vdo games as a kid...more so than dolls...but got my barbies later on.

Anyways I think that we should be careful about talking like this about a person...mainly because it spreads like crazy in this day and age and suddenly you see a simple discussion in a forum is a news article in media!
