Vidya Balan's portrayal of South Siren Silk Smitha had the Box Office ringing and the lady won many accolades for her performance. However, very few people know that the role was initially offered to Bong beauty Bipasha Basu.
Other than the main lead, director Milan Luthria was also not the original choice for the film. Sudhir Mishra was earlier signed on to direct the movie, however, Ekta Kapoor had certain reservations and hence Luthria was approached to take the project.
The controversial film made enough moolah at the BO, and was appreciated by fans and critics alike, and took Vidya's career to new heights.
We hope Bipasha is able to take better personal and professional decisions in the coming year.
