Though it may seem weird, it is not unusual to not name the baby for months. I've heard of such cases from other members on different boards. Why, even my little cousin's final name was locked in only after 3 months of gruelling process.

The pressure on the baby and on the family is very high. We already have the baby's kundalis (horoscopes) doing the rounds on news channels. So after the baby's name is announced, it will be analyzed to death. And Abhishek and Aishwarya want everyone in the family to agree on one name. With such sky high expectations and pressure to find a befitting name for the baby, of course it would take time. May be they will call her by the pet name Beti B/Bitiya until they finally zero in on one.

Or may be they do have a name but do not want the whole world to know just yet? It seems like a good idea, especially the way everyone is making such a big deal over nothing. The interest people have in every intricate detail of the baby... it's amusing though.. some people cringe when the media reports about them as to how annoying it is and how they don't want to know anything about them. And when there are no media reports and only silence, it is some kind of a PR stunt... How is it one anyway, I see no difference between announcing the name now or months later. More like they can announce the name once the madness dies down. 😃

I was also wondering the same thing...y cant they just name that baby? its just stupid to even think that the child doesnt have a name for that long...

It may sound strange...but many dont name the baby till its ready to go to school ie till its 3-5 years old depending on the country. Till then names like Raju, Baby etc suffice. I am sure many of you read the book 'Namesake' where delay in naming the child triggers a whole story of a person's existence. Some are wondering if its a South Indian tradition to name babies after a certain number of days. As far as I know most South Indians do have a tradition like that. They consult an astrologer before choosing a name. Even Bengalis are never in a hurry to select a name...and afterall the baby's paternal grandma is Bengali.

I think they already chose a name but they're withholding it for the time being.

An article Abhi who is supposed to promote Players and yet speaks more about his baby's name. I cant help but think it is a PR ploy. So after the name is given what's next? Which school she will go to?
