Young and Vivacious Kareena Kapoor is on the Roll

Kareena stands out among the Bollywood actresses, both in looks as well as talent, despite the fact that a resounding box office success has eluded her so far. She works hard on her face and body and loves the sexy tag that she has acquired.

Kareena Kapoor comes across as an extremely self-possessed actor. She has the poise and the talent to carry off almost any kind of challenging role. One of the films that we would see Kareena in would be 36 China Town. This film is directed by Abbas-Mustan and produced by Subhash Ghai. Releasing right after that is Priyadarshan's Chup-Chup Ke, a comedy with her real life beau, Shahid Kapoor, Neha Dhupia and Om Puri. Kareena is very excited about playing Desdemona in Vishal Bhardwaj's Omkar, his interpretation of the Shakespearan tale of love, revenge and retribution – Othello. She was very impressed with the Tabu's role in Maqbool and is glad that she was chosen to play Desdemona, which without doubt is one of the most challenging female role to be ever written. She would be sharing screen space with Ajay Devgan, with whom she almost got together in Rituparno's Raincoat. Naseeruddin Shah will also have an important role in the film.

One of the other interesting projects Kareena would be working in is Ram Gopal Verma's Time Machine, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Her onscreen chemistry with SRK in Asoka was sizzling. She will be seen with SRK in Farhan Akhtar's Don as well, she is doing as she says "a cameo performance", doing the song Helen had done in the original film. Kareena has played a prostitute in Chameli, a Muslim riot victim in Dev, an urban girl in Yuva, and in Hulchul, she does comedy. She says that she does not want to be slotted into one genre, if doing Chameli was challenging, then so was doing the film Hulchul, because even comedy takes a lot out of you as an actor. She likes to think of herself as a mainstream actress who would not shy away from doing any kind of role. If working with Priyadarshan, Abbas-Mastan and Dharmesh Darshan means that she would be doing popular cinema that draws the crowds, then Vishal Bhardwaj, Sudhir Mishra and Govind Nihalani give her a chance to do off-beat, interesting roles that help her grow as an actor. Kareena will be romancing her real life beau, Shahid Kapoor, on screen in the films 36 China Town and Chup Chup Ke. She was cast opposite him in Fida as well, albeit in a negative role. Her onscreen chemistry with Shahid Kapoor did not come across as really hot, lets hope these two new films prove the past wrong! Kareena is only 24, young and vivacious; we hope she has a great career ahead of her. Her endearing personality and charisma should take her a long way.
