Rituparno Ghosh is telling the whole world that Akshay Kumar was always the first choice to play the lead role in Pritish Nandy Communications's Rahgir/Rehguzar (similar to Dev Anand's Guide) and how suitable he is for the role. So where does that put SRK and Devgan who Ritu had approached last year (before Akki) for the lead role, before PNC came into picture. Shah Rukh couldn't do the film. And Ajay says, "Ritu and I had met Devsaab last year and Ritu had told him that he's planning to remake Guide with me in Devsaab's role. Devsaab was extremely unhappy and told Ritu that he was against it. That's when I decided not to do it and opted out." A meeting Dev Anand can vouch for. And for those who wanted to know what is Devgan's favorite film; here it is. "It's Guide," says Devgan. This is one film where both SRK and Devgan could have beaten khiladi Kumar to the race — had they chosen to.
Call it art imitating life or real-life taking a leaf from art's pages. In another incident of protests demanding justice for Jessica Lal's family, Delhiites gathered at the India Gate and lit candles in the memory of the deceased model, last Sunday. Well haven't we witnessed a similar scene in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti? In fact, a few youngsters present at the gathering confessed that the movie has inspired them to be socially responsible instead of putting cold shoulders to such issues. When quizzed about it, Mehra says, "It's really interesting to know about such a development and all the more when people are confessing about it. It's a humbling experience for me. My sincerity and personal beliefs comes across in the film and if it influences the society at large, it's fantastic." Hoping that the inspiration lasts longer…
People know that the macho Akshay Kumar adores his family and sticks by them through thick and thin. Recently, when an international salon offered him free services at their store, he turned them down saying he would rather go to his sister Alka's salon — the Aroma Garden Salon and Spa in Juhu. Incidentally, Alka's Salon and Spa will celebrate International Women's Day (March 8) from 3 pm to 7 pm on that day. The spa will be inaugurated by Dimple Kapadia, and offers fun-filled and relaxing salon activities by top male models, free make-up tips and makeovers, nail art, tattoos, lucky draws and many more services on that day. And for those dropping in to get a peek at Akshay might not go away disappointed as he's promised to come, too. Q Why do children always expect sweet candies when they meet Anil Kapoor? A Because he's a 'Chocolate' hero. | |||||||||||||||||||
