Gaurav Chopra is back from his four-month sojourn in South Africa. Mr Bombay Crush, as he was referred to in Durban, is looking forward to a short break before he begins anew here.
Gaurav Chopra
Gaurav landed in Mumbai on Sunday morning, and in the evening, was spotted watching the play, Mad About Money.
"After doing over 100 shows of the stage musical Bombay Crush, I was back to seeing another play," he says. There was no time to recover from jetlag — he had to catch up with the play, as the cast featured Narayani Shastri!
He terms his Durban stay as an "awesome learning experience", which has made him "open up as an actor and become a fairly good dancer. I went there to try out new avenues but the shows were way beyond my expectations. I was nicknamed Mr Bombay Crush. I was appreciated and my performance received rave reviews.
The show was produced by the South Africa-based Video Vision Entertainment. The Indians there are so tuned into television that they know each and every actor and soap. I was even invited to people's homes for lunch and dinner."
London plans
Besides the stage experience, Gaurav also flaunts a new, lean look. "All that dancing in the musical has made me shed the flab. I am happy with my new look," he says, adding that he is looking forward to Bollywood. "That's what I want to do, along with theatre."
Bombay Crush may have a London opening around May or June, and Gaurav is looking forward to soaking in that experience as well.
