Excerpts from the Interview: How did you feel while you were going through the script of 'Rang De Basanti'? There were many reactions in my mind while I was going through the script of the script. I was really touched by what I was reading and wanted to bring it to life for others to see, to communicate to them the things that were really necessary. The script was so original and so fresh. There were things said that were true and not a figment of some imagination. The social message attached is thought provoking. It's about our country with the beliefs and traditions that are ours and it is our responsibility to take care of it. Isn't it a beautiful thought? Did you enjoy doing your character? Oh very much. It was young and bubbly and was as if playing the real self. Soniya as my character is called is a girl in her 20s. She is lively and a complete tomboy whose friends are four boys. Only her fianc can feel the soft side of her. How was your experience working with Aamir? Just awesome! He is one actor you can watch and learn so much. The kind of dedication and zeal he has towards his work is just superlative. He is such a big star but he never made the young bunch of actors feel inferior. He is a perfectionist, and he used rehearse for long to get himself right. He is on the sets at the dot time. He inspires you to work. Did all the grooming by Rakeysh before the shooting helped you to deliver the right? We underwent workshops before we started shooting for the film. It was of real help as we actors got to understand each other well and also rehearse and practice for long time. Before the camera there was no hesitation and we were all set to go.
I'm excited but I'm also very scared because I'm working with mom Sharmila Tagore and the nation knows how big an actress she is. She is also a perfectionist and very accurate about make-up and hairstyle. Even doing the commercial with her made me feel butterflies in my stomach. But working with Aparna Sen will be a real sort of experience. What other Bollywood films are you doing? My next will be a sweet romantic film 'Ahista Ahista' directed by Shivam Nayar with Abhay Deol. I'm also doing an Indian film in English titled 'Postcard' directed by Rajshri Ojha. After this I would take any good performance oriented roles. |
