Yeah honestly, I am not expecting Ra.1 to beat Bodyguard's opening day records because MANY people prefer to stay home on Diwali for the puja and then festivities, especially in the North.

^^naah choco yaar...it might just beat BG...coz srk's biggest hits have always been diwali releases..hes never gone wrong with a diwali release...

DDLJ, KKHH, Mohobbatein, Veer zaara, Don, OSO all released in diwali...diwali to srk is wht eid is to sallu...

sigh...bolly stars and their festival monopolies...😆

Smartie, SRK definitely rules Diwali and his films do wonderfully then *touchwood* but 20 crores on first day is a lot..I mean as much as I love SRK, I wouldn't watch his movie on Diwali because I'd be busy with the puja and patakas and all...and there are plenty who would do the same..

But of course it just might beat bodyguard...

LOL yeah Salman rules eid, SRK diwali, and Aamir Christmas.

I am not sure what Akki is thinking clashing with Yash Chopra-SRK-Kat on Diwali next year...

Rahman scores for RA.One

Shah Rukh Khan and A R Rahman have wanted to work together for the longest time. But their plans to collaborate have always fallen through, that is until now. Reportedly, their long-awaited partnership has finally materialised, thanks to the south superstar Rajinikanth.

A source informed Mumbai Mirror that Rahman has agreed to score the music for a very important sequence in SRK's opus RA.One.

Apparently Rahman, who is very close to Rajinikanth, immediately agreed to SRK's request to compose the music for the scene that features a cameo by the south superstar. The source explained, "The scene is the highlight of the film. In the sequence, Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh come together and so, the dramatic effect of the scene depended largely on the background music.

That's why SRK and Rajini decided that an extraordinary scene like that needed a special background music that only someone of Rahman's calibre would be able to achieve. Since the music director is a very close friend of Rajini, he immediately made arrangements to start working on the music for the scene."

Apparently, Rahman dropped all his commitments abroad and returned to his studio in Chennai to record the music for the scene. According to the source, the entire RA.One team, including the film's music directors Vishal-Shekhar was not only agreeable but also excited to have Rahman work on music for the sequence. "After Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth, everyone felt Rahman's presence would be another step ahead for SRK's big Diwali release," added the source.

The last time Rahman and SRK worked together was in Mani Ratnam's Dil Se, in 1998. However, after this project, their plans to work together for a Red Chillies Entertainment production always hit a roadblock.

The two were supposed to work together in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om - a plan that reportedly fell through due to royalty and copyright issues.

When contacted, Shah Rukh, Rahman and director Anubhav Sinha remained unavailable for comment.

First Day Record On For Ra.One Despite Diwali Puja

Ra.One is set to release on Diwali and normally collections are hit by 25% plus as many families stay at home from around 3pm till 8pm for Diwali Puja but the buzz is so huge for the film that it could be a limited affect as many still venture out to see the magnum opus.

Last year Golmaal 3 was released on Diwali Puja and in Mumbai where there was biggest craze for the film as the first two Golmaal's had done best in Mumbai, it was not affected and collected what it would have on a normal day. In the South, the Diwali Puja affect is minimal as compared to the North.

Here with Ra.One the craze all over is more than the craze of Golmaal 3 in Mumbai circuit so the first day 20.60 crore nett record of Bodyguard may be beaten despite Diwali Puja as long as North is 20% lower on Diwali Puja and not the 50% plus that Golmaal 3 was. Below are the the Diwali Puja day collections and next day holiday (in brackets) of Golmaal 3. Figures in Lakhs.

Ra.One may well see a strong record or near record day one due to craze and 20-25% jump next day due to holiday and then word of mouth coming into play on Friday rather than the below par day one at many places and and 55% jump on day 2 which happened with Golmaal 3.

Ra.One gets positive reviews from Dubai critics

Superstar Shahrukh Khan's much-awaited movieRa.One has been premiered in Dubai yesterday (Monday, 24th October). The Indian superhero movie has got positive reviews from the Dubai film critics, who think that the science fiction flick surely lives up to the viewers' expectation. They are very much impressed by its technical standards.

Dubai film critics think that the movie Ra.One has good story line, but it turns predictable at the end of the film and its dialogue are punchy and funny at various times. The movie is all about Shekhar Subramaniam (Shahrukh Khan), who is a graphics specialist. He builds a video game Random Access One aka Ra.One for his son Prateek (Armaan Verma), who is mistaken his sensibility for cowardice, but he himself is killed by Ra.One. What happens next will form an interesting story.

What has impressed the critics in Ra.One is its special effects. They say that Jeff Kleiser's digital effects and Rasool Pookutty's sound design are the major highlights of the film. A critic from Dubai writes, "This kind of sci-fi thriller is new to the Indian cinema-goer and will be highly appreciated, especially in 3D."

They write that Kareena Kapoor has no much job than sizzling in on scene. But it is Shahrukh Khan, who holds the attention of the viewers from the beginning, first as the geek then as the superhero. Armaan Verma and Arjun Rampal are good in their respective roles. A critic writes, Ra.One is a fun movie and it is surely a Diwali treat from Shahrukh Khan.
