Bollywood has seen many musical duos in the process of time, most of them successful ones. Shankar-Jaikishen, Lakshmikant-Pyarelal, Kalyanji-Anandji, Nadeem-Shravan, Anand-Milind, and Jatin-Lalit are the more prominent ones. Now the only composer pair we've is Vishal-Shekhar, giving the message loud and clear that the era of musical duos is coming to a close in Bollywood. Only single composers like A R Rehman, Anu Malik, Himesh Reshammiya, Ismail Darbar and Aadesh Shrivastava are ruling the roost. Lets hear what the top composers have to tell about the vanishing trend. Aadesh Shrivastava says that it is very obvious because in this industry nobody wants to share fame or money with anyone. When two people are working together, one is bound to get more popularity and compliment for his work than the others. This gives to superiority and inferiority leading to further complications. In the case of Jatin-Lalit this is exactly what had happened.
Anu Malik too agrees to the view that it is not literally possible for two people to be very compatible with each other. There is so much competition and expectation to deliver well. In between this, the personal tensions between two people and selfish motives between them may make their musical careers go kaput. |
