| Raveena Tandon has been invited to present an award at the Stardust Awards, to be held on January 15. A surprise guest, Prachi Rathod, an AIDS social worker from Jaipur, will accompany Tandon on stage; Prachi will give away the trophy. Prachi kyun?
Tandon took this decision because she was very impressed with Rathod's work. The 27-year-old Rathod, who is Tandon's fan, will get this opportunity courtesy director Anu Malhotra's show, Haath se Haath Mila, slated to air on Doordarshan next month.
Each story of Haath Se Haath Mila will feature a young achiever (19 to 35 years), whose work involves spreading awareness about AIDS.
The achiever will get a chance to shake hands or be with a celebrity he regards highly. The story on Prachi and Raveena will last for three episodes. Targetting salons
Prachi is spreading AIDS awareness by educating barbers in Jaipur.
According to a senior producer from BBC, Mita, "Prachi feels just like the film Everybody Says I Am Fine, where it was conveyed that many people are quite frank and relaxed when they come to a salon. Through them, she feels people can be educated on the scourge of AIDS."
The second episode will bring in Raveena, who has seen Prachi's exploits, and ask her to fulfill a challenge, if she wants to meet her in person.
Raveena challenges Prachi to organise a mela in Rajasthan and address the issue of AIDS. Prachi does it welll; she talks to teenagers and sends messages via puppet shows. Star attractions
Says Malhotra, "We keep cutting between Jaipur and Mumbai, and that makes the format interesting. By bringing in stars into the ambit of our work, we are sure to reach out to a wider section of society."
Prachi arrives in Mumbai either on January 13 or 14. Raveena will meet her on January 15. She will go to VLCC for a makeover with Raveena.
"I intend taking her for a makeover. Thereafter, we will head for the awards. She will give away the award and then get a platform to speak on AIDS awareness. Prachi Rathod will be the superstar of the evening," gushes Raveena, adding, "I am so happy for Prachi. I am doing whatever I can for her. Actually, she deserves much more."
Stories with Viveik Anand Oberoi, Shilpa Shetty and Dia Mirza have also been shot for Haath Se Haath Mila.
