Every year on Raksha Bandhan, I usually kick my brother out of bed at 6 am as I have to be at work early. I make sure I tie him a rakhi before I leave. After that my brother cooks (he's training to be a chef) for me, because he's too cheap to buy me anything!
Raksha Bandhan has always been an important day for us. Apart from my brother, I have about 20 cousin brothers whom I tie rakhis to. More often than not, I have to mail it to them because they are in different parts of the world. I adore all my brothers. There are very few girls in my family, so Raksha Bandhan is always a special day for us.
With my hectic work schedule and the fact that Siddharth has been at culinary school in Switzerland the past few years, we don't always get to celebrate Raksha Bandhan together. I miss him terribly because he always cooks me a really good meal as a treat. When he had just started to learn cooking, Sid made me
Thai curry because I love it. It turned out really well and I was touched by the effort. Apart from the curry, he'd laid out an entire Thai spread for me when I returned home later that day.
The bond that my brother and I share is tremendous. He is my baby brother and I'll always be there for him. I adore Sid's simplicity and the fact that he is all heart. He always puts others before himself and is such a kind soul. The only thing I would change about him is his emotional nature, so that he wouldn't get hurt by people so often. I do wish he was not so lazy though! I also wish he wasn't so kanjoos and will start buying me gifts for Raksha Bandhan someday!
