Watched it!

So, first off, the entire theater hall was full. No surprises there, even though I watch all Bollywood movies at an American theater. 😆

Movie...it was fun. I enjoyed watching it! It had a clever play on words throughout...like, chutiya (aka cho-tiya) kaatni padegi and then maa ki aank!...ke taare hai. The pee break/tea break thing was funny too. 😆
I actually laughed so much and so did my sister and cousin. They actually laughed a little too much, and I was kinda caught off-gaurd by that because they never like Bollywood comedies. Throughout the movie they were whispering to me, "omg this is the best movie ever!" My brother hated this movie and told me that he's never coming to watch another Bollywood movie (on my saying) ever again. Oh well! 😆

I think I liked Ready as much as I liked Dabangg, maybe a little less, but whatever...the point is that I enjoyed it!

Loved the entire picturization of the Character Dheela and Dhinka Chika song. The people in the theater were so loud and went crazy when the Dhinka Chika song came on. And OMG...I paid attention to the subtitles today and can't believe that Dhinka Chika actually incorporated all 12 months into the song. It's such a fun (and colorful) song lol. 😆

Of course, Salman Khan had to take his shirt off, one way or another. No movie of his is ever complete unless he goes shirtless. It's like a tradition that I've been noticing all these years. 😆

The supporting cast and crew were good, especially Paresh Rawal (felt sorry for him on how he was being used and ending up believing that he had some magic powers lol) as were Asin and Salman in their roles. Asin did, however, remind me of Kalpana from Ghajini (I guess it was the whole characterization). The special appearances were like never-ending! It was one Bollywood actor/actress after the other! I was wondering if they were planning to bring the enitre industry or something.

One thing though - this movie, like the whole 'evil/mafia family of the heroine vs. the good family of the boy trying to make them into good people so the two lovers can be united' angle reminded me of Welcome the whole time! It was like a sense of deja-vu.

I went to watch it expecting to have a good time, and I did. It was not a path-breaking or unique film, but not boring either. So for me, Ready was worth it. Not everyone will like it, but then again, different tastes for different people. It's all good. A good time pass and in my eyes, provides good entertainment. I'd give it a 3.5/5.

@ Choco...These critics I like to read what they write but I dont base my movie watching choices based on what they say...Some movies I just feel like watching and i ending up watching them... And some of them I feel like watching in the theatre and this is one of them...
And either way I dont have much of a choice... My sis is a huge Salman fan ...In exchange for all the yummy food she cooks for me her only condition is I accompany her to Salman's movies...😆
Atleast this movie is something I too want to watch... Can you imagine she has dragged me to watch snooze fests like Hello, Mrs Khanna and Yuvraaj...

^Hehehe Maddy I try my best not to either..and I don't always agree with them either..like they seemed to like Dabangg and I couldn't watch more than 30 minutes of it 😆 Same with Golmaal 3..I couldn't watch more than 20 minutes and critics generally liked it 😆

LOL Maddy that's cute! 😆 I can't really relate because I do the dragging to theaters for an actor in my house (SRK) 😆 My dad and I usually have a lot of fights over this because he has hated all of SRK's movies 😆 He still hasn't forgiven me for RNMDJ..but it's okay, I repaid the favor because he made me watch Ghajini in theaters 😆

Oh my...Maddy those films are awful 😆 I FFed through the DVD 😆 This one for sure is supposed to be an entertainer so you won't be bored :D

While '3 Idiots' & 'Tees MK' were Christmas releases & 'Dabangg' Eid, 'Ready' should be the BIGGEST opening ever for a non-festive period.

Salman back as lover-boy in 'Ready'
(IANS)

4 June 2011
She's a runaway bride. He's a runaway rogue, a little rough around the edges but a good hearted lovable soul. Salman Khan can play this character over and over again with his eyes closed. In "Ready" he is back to playing the lover-boy clown.

"Mr. Fix-it" and "Ms Hum Apke Hain Conwoman" flirt and get naughty in exotic locations. They don't generate chemistry. They are just being around.

Film: "Ready"

Starring: Salman Khan, Asin, Paresh Rawal

Directed by: Anees Bazmi

Rating: ***

Jeez, these two never tire of saying cheese! And when the going gets cheesy there's always the family to fall back on. There are three families, living in homes that appear to have been built to accommodate over-sized families. The setting is almost laughably anachronistic.

Salman Khan and his director Anees Bazmi pay a hefty comic homage to "Hum Aapke Hain Koun". The Salman-Asin romance unfolds against the backdrop of a commodious joint family where every family-member seems determined to have a good time even at the expense of good taste.

True, Asin lacks the gamine charm of Madhuri Dixit. But then the Salman Khan in "Ready" is not quite the Salman Khan from "Hum Aaapke Hain Koun". He hasn't aged. He's just become more smug and self-confident. Many times we catch him looking bored on camera. But that is this iconic star's style statement.

When you are Salman Khan you can slip out of a character when you want. No one is complaining.

Bazmi's script, a shoot off of a Telugu hit, accommodates more characters than Goa during the tourist season.

Every character is over-dressed and over-the-top. Then men are constantly looking for reasons to say goofy corny things to one another. That's the required mood of this "panga-'mirth'-lena" comedy with an attitude that stretches from one end of the lengthy narration to the other with hardly a break for the plot to gather together its thoughts.

Bazmi keeps the proceedings neatly on the side of good taste. Innuendos are avoided, and partly so because Salman has an image of the good-bad boy. He never offends refined sensibilities with his wildly bratty antics, though he never shows any inclination to be one of those refined types himself.

He is happy being human in a way only Salman Khan can be. He gets able support from some solid performers like Akhilendra Mishra, Sharad Saxena, Manoj Pahwa, television comedian Sudesh Lehri and Mahesh Manjrekar whose hilarious act as Salman's dad is lifted from Sanjay Chhel's "Khubsoorat".

Strangely the women performers are all vapid to the point of seeming sedated. This is a men's comedy with women welcome to join the fun.

But nobody minds. And not because this is a mindless comedy. The quality of the gags is often higher than what we usually get in Bollywood comedies. But the film suffers from an overloaded narration.

There is too much effort to cram in "entertainment" at every possible level. There is also a rather lame attempt to define the status of women in feudal households. But the attempt is so hurried and cursory, it's almost farcical.

Replete with tongue-in-cheek references to many earlier blockbusters including Sooraj Barjatya's "Hum Aapke Hain Koun", "Ready" is like one of those familiar tunes sung to a new set of lyrics that you may not approve of but you empathize with because it offers the comfort of the familiar.

Having said that, the film, it must be confessed, doesn't really offer even diehard Salman fans the fun-quotient expected from the mega-star. Too many people colonise this domestic comedy. Boisterous uncles, over-dressed aunties, under-intellectualised gangsters and irksome henchmen are all greedy to be noticed. The trouble is, they aren't doing anything that is terribly exciting or engaging, except playing the foil to the star of the show.

And we all know who that is.
