Prabhu Deva should stick to dance coreography (which he is phenomenal at) or directing strictly romantic films. "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana" was really good. whereas Villu - an action entertainer sucked big time. Also, Bhansali doing action? words fail me

With Akshay in tow, Bhansali changes his tune

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is experiencing a different world while working with Akshay Kumar on ROWDY RATHORE. While it was evident that with director Prabhu Deva and Akshay Kumar on board, the film would hardly be the kind that Bhansali is associated with, it was also given that ROWDY RATHORE would be miles away from being artistic in nature.

"Think Bhansali and you end up remembering music from films like HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, DEVDAS and SAAWARIYA. Each of these films has boasted of a classy element to them. Now for ROWDY RATHORE he isn't imposing his vision on the composers. He has given them a free hand as a result of which there won't be any hint of Bhansali touch to the songs," informs a source attached to the film.

First step in this direction was to rope in Sajid-Wajid, who has worked with Prabhu Deva on the music of WANTED. Music there was chartbuster and with Akki joining the gang, it was time to recreate some more jalwa.

CHECK OUT: Sajid-Wajid to compose music for ROWDY RATHORE

Wajid nods in agreement here, "See, ROWDY RATHORE has a different look and feel to it and Bhansali is also aware about that. The kind of class and humor in it is completely different from what he has brought in his films so far. He is willing to experiment with the music here and knows that with all the masti we bring in our music, he can be rest assured of something really popular in hand."

A couple of chartbuster tracks can do wonders for the film's opening weekend and this is what Bhansali too wants for ROWDY RATHORE. No wonder Bhansali can be heard singing to his team - Bas Itni Si Tumse Guzaarish Hai...

Bhansali gives in to 'masti' & 'dhamaal' for 'Rowdy Rathore'
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, June 22, 2011]

It is a known fact that when it comes to music of his films, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is extremely particular about how it sounds. In fact so fascinated is Bhansali with music that he even turned composer for 'Guzaarish'. It's a different matter though that both his film as well as the music bombed commercially. Now he is taking a different route for his under production film 'Rowdy Rathore' for which the music is shaping up in a manner which is not even remotely close to what Bhansali has done in the past.

Informs a source, "Bhansali, for all his serious demeanour, hasn't been able to resist the temptation of getting some 'masti' and 'dhamaal' in place for this Akshay Kumar starrer. He understands that 'Rowdy Rathore' comes with a different sensibility altogether and there can't be any usual sensitivity that he has brought in his earlier work. He is keenly observing how Akki, Prabhu Deva and Sajid-Wajid are jamming up for 'Rowdy Rathore'."

"At the end of the day Bhansali too understands that for an out and out commercial film like 'Rowdy Rathore' he has to get everything right for the masses, starting with the music", continues the source, "Even Prabhu Deva's 'Wanted' was phenomenal because of chartbuster music. Now 'Dabangg' and 'Ready' have been huge successes because their music was so popular from Day One."

When contacted, Wajid (of Sajid-Wajid duo) says, "At the end of the day everyone has that little element of 'masti' in them. We are all having fun in putting together 'Rowdy Rathore'."

Combat Kumar

Upala KBRUpala KBR, TNN | Jun 24, 2011, 12.06am IST
Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar is heading off to an undisclosed destination in South East Asia to learn a martial art form called Combat Karate for his next film, Rowdy Rathore.

This martial art form utilises fast-paced high kicking and speed punching and strikes to vulnerable points on the opponent's body. No rules are followed as it is a very stylised form of street-fighting. A source reveals, "There are various forms of Combat Karate, including the American one. However, Akshay will study the traditional art form popularly practised as an underground activity in South East Asia. Until recently, training in the art was banned in some countries in the region.

Akshay will be taking off for two months to learn Combat Karate, and will be accompanied by his action director Anal Arasu. During this training period, he will cut off from the outside world as this training involves rigorous discipline, focus and concentration. Rowdy Rathore is set in the rustic heartland of
India, and will be directed by Prabhudeva. It will see the Khiladi Kumar return to the action genre, something he knows and does extremely well.
Akki is back to action with a bang😎
