Salman Khan, Prem and Barjatyas could well be synonym of each other for a couple of decades now. Though Sooraj Barjatya is not directing READY, his influence is pretty much felt in the film, what with Salman turning Prem all over again. Not just that, he also bears a quintessential 'lover boy cum family man' persona in the film, something that is expected from him whenever he turns Prem.
"READY borrows immensely from Sooraj Barjatya films", says a source attached to READY, "You would see the kind of happy families staying together under one roof, something which has been the case in films like HUM AAPKE HAIN KAUN, HUM SAATH SAATH HAI, etc. These are such families where everyone is good at heart with a constant smile plastered on their faces. READY too has a similar setting and as Prem, Salman follows the characteristics to the T."
However there is a slight twist in the tale here. While the first half of READY has Salman playing a quintessential Prem, things take a different route in the second half of the film with Salman's character going through a sea change.
"Yes, we have taken inspiration from cinema coming from the house of Barjatyas", admits Anees Bazmee who has directed the film, "You would see family members eating and praying together. Salman too does what audience wants from Prem. However there are more shades to him as the film progresses. READY is a complete masala entertainer and it doesn't follow only one particular 'sur'."
It is after six years that Bazmee has reunited with Salman after delivering a superhit in NO ENTRY. Naturally the director is excited about repeating a success. "Hanste gaate kab film complete ho gayi pata hi nahi chala", he gushes, "In fact this is one of the fastest films ever of Salman bhai."
