Koena Mitra, who suffered a huge loss of money and property when her Bandra flat was gutted due to short circuit in August this year, has bought herself a new house.

The sultry beauty has moved into a spacious, three BHK on the 18th floor of Meera Society, situated a few metres away from Oshiwara Police Station, on the road towards Malad. Many residents of the society are police officers.

Actors not welcome

Koena did not find it easy to get this flat. "People don't trust the film industry, and don't want actors staying in their midst. Building societies would call me and subject me to many rounds of questioning," she complains.

Does she miss her old home? "Bandra is Bandra, any day. The hustle bustle of Bandra is incomparable. But I am not a social animal; I hardly attend parties. I prefer watching movies, and have Fame Adlabs, Fun Republic and Cinemax, all within a very small radius. That's pretty exciting and satisfying."

Koena has not sold her Bandra flat; the interiors are being redone. "I haven't sold it. There are many memories attached to it."

Comedy calling Koena

On the work front, Koena Mitra has Subhash Ghai's Apna Sapna Money Money, being directed by Sangeeth Sivan. The actress had been booked by Sivan for the film, even before her last release, Pritish Nandy's Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, hit theatres.

"Actually, Sivan bounced it off me sometime back, and said that he waiting for the green signal from the producer," explains the actress. In Apna Sapna Money Money, Koena plays an Anglo-Indian girl,
who wants to become a singer.

Koena says Sivan warned her to read the script carefully, as comedy is not easy. "I sat with the script writers. It's a very challenging role, and I am very excited about it," she adds.

Also on the cards is a Bengali film, which will be dubbed in Hindi. Koena does not want to disclose the name of the maker. "Let me first sign it. I have to sort out my dates on that. All I can say is the maker has won a National award three times. It's a beautiful film, set in the 1950s."

Koena is also doing E Niwas's next film.
