Two frontline stars may pair up

Aamir Khan seems to have developed a knack for doing period films after the colossal success of 'Lagaan'. Followed 'Mangal Pandey' next, however this film failed to garner positive response. Not deterred by the failure, the superb actor has decided to move ahead with another periodic film. If the grapevine is to be believed, he is also going to produce the film, which will be his next production after 'Lagaan'.

Though there were talks to rope in Aishwarya Rai for the role of 'Jwala' in 'Mangal Pandey', things didn't fall in place. Aamir and Aishwarya are two talented duos and their pairing in a film will be worth a watch. Many projects came in to pair the two frontline actors, but nothing materialized. With this latest production of Aamir Khan we might see the wonder happening. The backdrop of the film will be pre-independence era and Aishwarya might play the lead opposite Aamir. If everything works fine, the film will hit the floors next year.

For now, Aamir Khan is pinning on his forthcoming release 'Rang De Basanti'. He plays the lead opposite Soha Ali Khan in the film. Beauty queen Aishwarya has her hands tied with Hollywood ventures. Back home she'll be shooting for JP Dutta's 'Umraon Jaan'. Talks are also there that she might be roped in for Ketan Mehta 'Jhansi Ki Rani' to play the legendary character.
